Thank you for your reaction! Dimash’s talent is mind blowing 🤯 A'Studio was invited by Igor Krutoy to participate (individual concert) in the 2018 edition of the New Wave festival. Igor Krutoy, the man in white shirt giving his standing ovation, invited Dimash to participate in this festival in the same year. "Sinful Passion" was created in 1998. This is how the song was performed, exactly in the 20th anniversary of this song. It speaks of greater love, greater loss, greater despair, greater desire, greater passion. The loss or lack of this love, in Dimash's interpretation, has the dimension of a loss of life, which one is very anxious to restore. In place of the original purely pop instrumental part (inserts), Dimash included (after the last chorus) his vocalize, a stylized onomatopoeic (like a lament) eastern ornament and the words "дай мне, дай" (give me, give me) with a 23-second melismatic on the last syllable, which is not a simple substitute for a pop musical theme, but an extension of the story sung earlier in words. ❤️🎤🔝🌹🌹👏👏👏

Agree that the fancam from Dimash 48 is s fabulous one from his concert in Moscow (I believe). You can see his mouth shaping each note perfectly and his variations are lovely to watch but it still is much the same as the Sochi performance. Just as the fancam for Olimpico from Dimash 48 shows his face as he sings each note and I noticed that one note placement where his mouth is wider then he narrows it and one reactor said he was correcting the note but I noticed he does exactly the same thing in the Olimpico at Kazan. So, not a mistake at all but a choice to change the sound just so at the same note. Wonderful control. And Olimpico is one song where he does not make variations as it is a classical song where it needs to stay the same each time he sings it. He does make it stronger and more forceful in his Digital Show Online Concert. So that is one way to make it vary a bit.

So agree. Everyone else is “pleasant” and nice to listen to, but boring after a song or two but Dimash is an “experience” with every song. I have listened to him everyday, for as much of the day as I can for the six months since I have discover him. I never get bored, because there is so much difference not just song to song but within one song. I listen for that now if I try to listen to someone else but there is nothing there. Everyone else is like an artist that paints with just two blending colours and that’s it, not even a contrast colour

I definitely think there are a lot of other artists out there who are just as endlessly captivating, at least to me, but you're right, he really does never get old! There is something new to discover and hear every time you listen to a performance over again.

This was another very enjoyable reaction and insightful analysis. This was his 2018 guest performance at the New Wave competition held annually since 2002 at the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash and member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts. Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop". We use it too when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh KZbinr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique, called 'komeymen aytu'. You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah'. I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. This competition was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Billionaire Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian and Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. He invited Dimash to perform and it was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, Stranger, and Ave Maria, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has been collaborating with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him. There is another performance of this song of one of his more recent concerts. It is as good or better because you can hear certain parts clearer and the camera stays on him most of the time. Here is the link, in case you want to watch it. He is consistently perfect. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHvHg2iXfd92l68

The backing band wrote the original song. The original singer passed; so Dimash gives homage, but takes their song to a new level. Outstanding performance and he acknowledges the band at the end; great humility on Dimash's part. I've read somewhere he gives away or donates the flowers because they become so numerous.

I think it Dimash’s style can sound inconsistent or “all over the place” to a lazy listener. Just like certain music isn’t meant to be background music. He wants to take you on a journey & if you start listening like that from beginning those dynamic shifts are beyond artistry that evokes a real physiological response in the listener. As well as being spectacular to the ears

Glad you came back to Dimash. You said some wouldn’t like a technique Dimash did. If someone with education could spot a technique like this and not like it , it’s just their taste in music. The vocal coaches reacting to Dimashs sos version on the China show called the genre popopera. Even tho rock belting and other styles were in there. I’m not a professional but this number had so much going on even with you explaining it I don’t know what one genre it was. AStudio was on the stage collating with dimash. The pianist had written it for their group years ago with a lead singer who died years ago. The song was a lamentation to him. The gutteral also throat singing Dimash took from khazkastan’s funeral traditional singing. So if people don’t like something they go elsewhere for the music as KZbin has so much to offer. But as far as dimash -- I’m in for the journey. Im hoping he will shake up America with his mix of traditional art with pop art music. He’s had promotions and promoters here before the virus. Than you for your wonderful educated analysis of sinful passion. When I first heard it I thought it was the most difficult song to sing andever written. And no male or female could repeat it, but people do try when you say that. But there was 24 seconds where Dimash did not breath yet put about four different genres, techniques and scales that I don’t know. Dimashs country families have brought down music from the ancestor one generation at a time. They do believe some do inreincarnations but their music is precious, valuable as are their instruments.

Cover of Sinful Passion by A´Studio. The bass and the piano players were part of that band and the second was one of the songwiters. 8:00 the farewell to the spirits inherited from Turkic/Tengrenist traditions in certain muslim tribes in the ancient Turan to pay homage to the ancestors and spirits of nature. In Spanish I know it as "hammering vibrato" or "glottal vibrato". In Iran I heard they call it "che-che". It is not yodeling but an ethnic technique relative to yodeling but needs more control on the notes you sing than in yodeling. You are right, it is a perfected and beautiful version of the folkloric technique.

Hello, I’m from Brazil! For those who like information about Dimas' songs: The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. In addition, the final part he added, with an oriental technique. The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band's name is A'Studio (Russian-based Kazakhstani pop music group, "Alma-Ata Studio", city of Almaty). The dead singer (to whom Dimash was a fan) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poet Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the keyboardist with long hair, which we see in the video accompanying Dimash.

Dimash sung for 42 -43 seconds on that one breathe near the end of the song. I take my hat off to Dimash. Other singers have commented on his confidence & no-fear attitude/approach when singing, he is a master of his craft for sure. I wonder how his future will pan out musically, I'm excited @ just the thought. TY for your reaction/analysis Liza. I am not a singer & sometimes wonder how these musicians sing the way they do, thankfully we have vocal coaches like yourself that can explain these things to us.

Just to be clear- EVERYTHING Dimash does is a concious choice- he has perfect pitch- there is no way he isnt always in full control of his voice. (Have you heard ave maria yet?) And the consistancy thing is rubbish from smallminded people imo. He simply has a much bigger range and much more control and options for what he can do than most singers. He would be vastly underutilizing his talents if he didnt sing as he does but just sang in a couple octaves in 1 style. What these people are failing to understand is Dimash is actually an experimental vocalist. He is NOT just singing for audiences and what he thinks will sell best. He is constantly trying new things and developing his skills- trying new things. OFCOURSE a vocalist with a unique range and set of talents who is brave enough to explore music is gonna sing in ways others do NOT. Its fine to not like individual songs if the style doesn't suit you- but making complaints about how he doesn't just sing like a regular singer is moronic.
