Believe it or not, we put up 5 trees every year and each of us chooses a "story " to decorate the tree. Then, every Sunday from the 5 weeks leading up to Christmas, we take a turn telling the story of our tree and it makes a wonderful family evening. As children grow up, get married and have their own kids, the tree stories grow too. We've been doing that since 1987. 🙂

What a great tradition! When we down-sized to our home on one of the NYS Fingerlakes, we only had room for one tree (usually we had a “family” tree in the family room which my husband decorated, and I had my beautiful “sheep” tree in the living room), so now I just do the tree in our good room (it’s not huge, so instead of a great room, I call it the good room)!

Its beautiful! I decorated my tree this year in honor of my mother who passed away in march, she had breast cancer, so my tree is in pink and i made ornaments with the breast cancer ribbon on them.

My husband's mother stopped decorating for Holidays when he was 7 yrs old. He loves the traditional, multi colored, tree. We put all the kids' ornaments that they make on it. He loves the colors and traditional vibe from it. We have been together almost 16 yrs and Christmas is our Favorite Holiday

We are more traditional, we buy a new ornament every year since we have been married ( 32years) and since our son 's been born (24 years old) and we take turns placing our own ornaments on the tree ,some of them have funny memories attached to them and we laugh about them every year. Some sentimental and some that were given to me by my parents when they first started their tree in their early marriage and some that were our ornaments when we were little. So needless to say our tree is always full of memories! Love your tree by the way!

Our kids used to love decorating the Christmas tree....it was kind of the announcement that Christmas is coming! I of course, never got to really pick a theme. So....the answer to my creativity but was to have 2 trees. A family one and a mama one...LOL! Now that it's just me and my husband I miss those days. Having just the mama tree is nice though. I use the same ornaments every year because as you age you tend to collect key pieces that have sentimental meaning to you. This year I have my mom's collection, or some of it! to add to mind so it will be an extra special tree! I love seeing tips on how to update my tree and this is great!

Just a helpful tip for viewers.. usually do ribbon or garland first if you’re going around the tree or from the top down! That way it’s not hard trying to go around picks, flowers, ornaments..etc. Your tree is absolutely gorgeous! You did amazing ♥️

I never use a tree skirt. I have commercially decorated trees for over 15 years and my favorite "skirts" are flat bed sheets(usually bought whe. Hotel liquidate old linens for 50 cents or a color each), throw blankets like you said or yards of fabric all gathered around the tree stand. One gal I used to decorate for we even used an antique tattered quilt to fit her vintage farmhouse theme. Glad I'm not the only one that doesn't use traditional tree skirts. I put the money in the decorations themselves

New subbie here. My tree and mantle is very similar to yours and I've been doing it this way for years. Just so sparkly and pretty. Love the large snowflakes and ribbon placement. My sister in law gave me a beautiful round lace tablecloth from Ireland and I've used it as a tree skirt. It is so lovely with the lace scalloped edge. She's been gone 30 years and it's such a sweet memory of her❤️ Great tutorial🎄❣️

Very pretty. Love your all white theme. We normally do traditional colors but did a silver theme this year. Also I added a couple strands of clear twinkle lights to the very center of the tree and kept the regular clear lights towards the outer part. Merry Christmas 🎄

We always go to the Christmas tree farm and cut it down the day after Thanksgiving. We decorate with lights and the children get to place their ornaments on the tree and then I pick a few special ornaments of mine😊 we also put candy canes of the tree along with a big Christmas tree skirt.
