Liz! You put me right back out there...love it!! Some amazing fly-fishing on the S. Platte. And yes, that water is freezing, even in July...snowmelt. Dang, I wish Luke could be there for entire hike. He will be missed in the upcoming days. I'm sure you feel the same. ❤ One thing I learned on my first day out there: long sleeve, light color, lightweight shirt. Take from that what you will. Pretty sure you'll get trail hardened during the early days, and not long after that, you'll be in Durango, saying, "I can't believe it's over!" 😢 Looking forward to seeing the Collegiate Peaks! Hello from AZ!! I never thought about the difference and challenges! We always hike higher elevations to "cool off" definitely more of a mental challenge, the heat is a beast! You will be just fine once you acclimate and find your groove!

Oatmeal and I like the first parts of the CT motion pitchers cuz it has our view in it. We will be trying this thru hike in '24 and we will leave from home instead of anti dog Waterton Canyon. (I don't think I will make it to the end) We are looking forward to part 2.

I find yelling “Make a Hole-ReCon!!!!!” (ReCon Ranger) helps me deal with the pain during the first week of hiking after a long absence. Your mileage may vary. Advance South!

Slay girl! That's a big horned sheep, they are usually pretty placid compared to other types of caribou, etc. If you hit a caribou in mating season, it will chase you down. Your AT group and videos inspired me to get into thru hiking. I love hiking and the mountains in general. It's a 'reset' for me because I live in a big city in Australia now. Please go to Canada and check out some mountains up there. It's beaUTIFUL. I want to do the PCT in a few years and will be doing my first thru hike this year to get started. So thanks for the content, it gets me amped for getting out of the rat race. America is a beautiful place 🥰 You look like you're having a hard day with the pain. Just don't give up. You are stronger than you think.
