Great visual of changing a tried and true fitted bra without having to purchase a different pattern.

Hi Liz, on the bridge pc that was not necessary to adjust like minus “kind of an extra seam allowance” which you added to the cup pcs. If logically to think, that could be enough to cut off the original seam allowance from the bridge. So to attach the edges & make a stitch, a new “kind of” channeling position is already on the place where it had to be. Pity it’s impossible to add the sketch of the pattern to see what I mean about. But hope you understood my trying of this explanation 🙈

You need to remove the 3/8” from the bridge that you added to the cup. Otherwise your wires will be too far apart and won’t fit the same as your original pattern. If you only take off the 1/4” SA the resulting bridge will be 1/4” wider than your well fitting pattern and that can be a very uncomfortable difference

@@LizSews yes, I understand this part and it’s absolutely logical. If something add then something need to remove. But I mean to say that it wasn’t necessary to remove something exactly on the bridge, it would be enough to cut off the original seam allowance from the bridge. So, and when attach the edges of the bridge and cup and stitch on the position you need, acc to added seam allowance on the cup, then all stays on the right position

Eeeeeeeeeeeexcellent! I was soon about to try, indeed, how to convert my bra block patter into a partial band bra, so this is very timely. I was wondering whether I needed to go with a bigger underwire size, but I can see here that I can use the same underwire size but add 3/8” around the cup pieces. It was unsure about why we need to cut the bridge width narrower. I did some thinking... and I think I know now why this needs to be done. I would have never thought of adjusting the bridge width. Thank you so much for the tip and I am looking to try this technique.

This was great thank you. i was recently wondering if I could alter the Afi Chis pattern to be a partial band and this video answered all my questions. .

Hello Liz, thanks for this tutorial. Can you do a tutorial on how to convert from partial band to a full band bra? Thanks in advanced.

I'm confused as to why you left the original 1/4 SA on the wire line. If you use that as your sewing line then you have 3/8 +1/4 to fold in for the channeling, which will be too much. Will it not?
@LizSews4 жыл бұрын
you still need to keep your 1/4" seam allowance because your still going to sew it fabric : fabric. In a full band bra the channeling takes up 3/8" of space on the bridge/cradle side of the seam but in a partial band it takes up 3/8" of space on the cup side of the seam by adding 3/8" to the cup and taking it away from the bridge the result is that the wires still sit in exactly the same spot as before but the seam is now on the opposite side of the channeling

What material did you use to make that bra?

General question - Why are bridge and cradle two pieces instead of one continual piece? Does that seam make a difference? Thank you for your patience.

Mostly i think it’s to make it easier to cut out of fabric and narrow lace. There are many patterns that have it all in one piece
