I was raised Lutheran but became an atheist in college. Then I read was some G.K. Chesterton: The Everlasting Man and Orthodoxy. Combined with the fact that Protestantism was completely unable to protect me against nihilism and materialism, that very cursory overview of Church history and doctrine was all I needed to read before deciding to become Catholic.

That is so interesting. My Catholic in-laws are the most materialist and money hungry individuals I’ve ever met. My husband struggled with Catholicism because he was not allowed to ask questions (which I find strange). I also find it strange that my in-laws don’t read the Bible and they get testy whenever I ask questions about Catholicism. Perhaps they don’t know what they believe in, and are just standing behind the label. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 😊

No, Lizica, lol, the Catholic Church doesn't keep secrets from the outside world. There are over a billion Catholics (1.2 billion I think I read in Wikipedia). If the Church had a secret theology, that would be a tough secret to keep.

I am a Protestant , but I totally agree with you on the sola scriptura thing. When I was at winter church camp , we talked a lot about traditions and the Catholic Church , and theology and whatnot. One thing that was brought up is the traditions of modern non-denominational churches. Such as we sing a certain number of songs at the beginning , we have the message in a particular place. I was even in a church that had donuts for everyone every Sunday , and one Sunday for some reason they didn’t have donuts and everybody flipped! And another thing that was brought up was the whole “this is my seat” thing. In most churches , you have a chair or a pew that you always sit in you know? And if somebody takes “your” chair people flip the heck out. And there is no “youth lock-ins MUST happen” verse in the Bible. And we went on to talk about how we say we “only follow the Bible” but a lot of these things aren’t in the Bible. I mean seriously , if there is a verse about donuts , I sure haven’t heard it! Lol. Yes , I believe that we should teach from the Bible of course , but without traditions, even modern Protestant churches wouldn’t function. Sorry for rambling , just thought I should share. God Bless!

Well, the traditions you are talking about aren't like the Catholic traditions. The traditions you mention aren't spiritual traditions, they are just superficial things and no one is saying that they HAVE to be followed, or people aren't following God. The Catholics believe their traditions are more important than what the bible says.

HI Lizzie, I had a born-again experience at a protestant church and attended for the last 20 years. Funny thing is I baptized my two kids because as a single mom i felt they would have a better education if they attended Catholic schools. They have both had their first communion and the oldest is now confirmed last year! Now I'm researching the Catholic church. God works in mysterious ways!! haha!

This is so true. There are so many prejudices against the Catholic faith that are driven into our minds as Protestants. I've wanted to be Catholic for 25 years, but it was...the only word I can think of is "forbidden". In my family, it was inconceivable to be Catholic. I'm 40 now and I'm finally doing it, but I know I can't tell my family til after it's done. And when they find out... I don't even want to think about it.

I know an ex-Lutheran Minister who converted to Catholicism and had to quit his job, retrain in school for a new career, and bring his whole family to Catholicism. He's a Catholic professor now. Its a huge leap and you have to be brave - but I think that is what Christ wants us to do for Him and the truth.

Protestants and Catholics were forced to convert from Orthodox Christianity to Protestant Christian, because the King wanted more wives and the Pope said NO, so he made his own church and it is the rebellion against the Catholic church. Protestants are the bees of the Queen, they get what they want while Catholics get their land taken away by Royalty. The US is a monarchy run by the Queen, otherwise explain why all presidents but 2 have been Protestant. Kennedy was killed because he was Catholic, Bidden is being heavily mistreated because he is Catholic. The King hates Catholics because the Pope told him he could not re marry so he made his own church where he is God and he ordered the Arch Bishop to Annull his Marriage with Catherine, and as you know it continued from there as he beheaded each wife that did not produce a son

Watching this video, I think I realized why you suddenly got so much attention when you converted to Catholicism. There have been "famous" converts before, but you have a unique perspective. You're very academic and intellectual, but you're not totally immersed in that to the point where your reasoning is inaccessible to the average listener - you're very accessible and good at articulating ideas simply. But you're also highly empathetic, so you understand and sympathize with people's feelings very easily, both Protestants and Catholics. Thus, Protestants listening can more easily connect to a Catholic perspective because they feel linked through you, and in the same way Catholics can connect with Protestant points of view, and we can understand each other a little better. Not trying to be creepy - psychology is a passion of mine and I sometimes get carried away but I try not to haha. Just sharing my thoughts. :)

Yes we all believe in the same God, but we belive in Him in a very different way.

I remember hearing a story of a saint that had visions and shared these visions with a humble man. They saw thousands of demons over a house and the next house over saw only one demon. The humble man replied to the saint..."see that house with many demons over it must be evil and the one next to it, as it only has one demon, must be pious_" But the saint replied...."An evil abode takes very little for it to succumb to temptations and therefore only one small demon does not have to work too hard to turn them away from God. But the other house, with the thousands of demons outside its door, is a pious house and even thousands/millions of demons work hard to turn the pious tenants evil with no avail." The Church has been assailed with evil since Judas. The devil walks within the Vatican walls and delights when there are excuses to be made to turn away from the true Church. Lies spun by the evil one get mixed in with evil acts and therefore seem to be truth. You are an inspiration and I enjoy listening to you. God Bless and keep up the good and holy work! Happy Easter! Sin existed in Apostolic times as well. The devil is constantly trying to destroy the Catholic Church because it is founded by Christ. What we have to remember, and always celebrate, is the constant presence of the Holy Spirit guiding the Church to the truth, as promised by our Lord until the end of times. As catholics, we should be praying more and asiduosly avail ourselves of the Sacraments in order to strengthen our souls and one another, for the good of humanity.

Again, this is something we saw even during Christ's earthly ministry. (John 6:66) Christ told us that most of humanity would NOT accept Him, and would not be saved. (Matthew 7:13) So none of this should be a surprise.

For Jesus knew from the outset who did not believe and who was to betray him. V.65 He went on, 'This is why I told you that no one could come to me except by the gift of the Father.' V.68 Simon Peter answered, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the message of eternal life, Many of his disciples left Jesus Himself. NO surprise that some will do the same nowadays. That, is NO argument against Church UNITY with Christ since, just like in our Savior ' s time, people will choose to follow wrong doctrines and division, perpetrated by "the divider",otherwise known as the devil. Remember, when speaking of His Church, Jesus called it a kingdom, the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of God? (Matthew 13:24, 31, 33; Luke 13:18; John 18:36) And like that Kingdom, the Church must always be ONE as a community, in belief and in practice, guaranteed by Him, with the presence of The Holy Spirit until the end of times. HERE ARE A FEW REVEALING ARGUMENTS: 1.- A city the keys of which were entrusted to the Apostles (Matthew 5:14; 16:19), 2.- A sheepfold to which all His sheep must come and be united under one shepherd (John 10:7-17) 3.- A house built upon a rock against which not even the powers of hell should ever prevail (Matthew 16:18). 4.- Furthermore Jesus just before He suffered, prayed for His disciples, for those who were afterwards to believe in Him, FOR HIS CHURCH, that they might be and REMAIN ONE as He and the Father are ONE (John 17:20-23) 5.- He had already warned them that "every kingdom divided against itself shall be made desolate: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matthew 12:25). ST. PAUL, A ONE TIME PURSUER, SPEAKS ON UNITY OF THE CHURCH: 1.- He declares that those guilty of "dissensions" and "sects" shall not obtain the kingdom of God (Galatians 5:20-21). 2.- Hearing of the schisms among the Corinthians, he asked impatiently: "Is Christ divided? Was Paul then crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?" (1 Corinthians 1:13). 3.- In the same Epistle he describes the Church as one body with many members distinct among themselves, but one with Christ their head: "For in one Spirit we are all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free" (1 Corinthians 12:13). 4.- He asks: "The chalice of benediction, which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? And the bread, which we break, is it not the partaking of the body of the Lord? For we, being many, are ONE BREAD, ONE BODY, all that partake of ONE BREAD" (1 Corinthians 10:16-17). 5.- Again in his Epistle to the Ephesians he teaches the same doctrine, and exhorts them to be "CAREFUL TO KEEP THE UNITY of the Spirit in the bond of peace", and he reminds them that there is but "ONE BODY AND ONE SPIRIT ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM, ONE GOD and FATHER OF ALL" (Ephesians 4:3-6). 6.- In one of his very first Epistles, he had warned the faithful of Galatia that if anybody, even an angel from heaven, should preach unto them any other Gospel than that which he had preached, "let him be anathema" (Galatians 1:8). Such declarations coming from this great Apostle are clear evidence of the essential UNITY which must be characteristic of the TRUE CHRISTIAN CHURCH. The other Apostles also proclaimed essential and necessary THE UNITY OF CHRIST'S CHURCH (cf. 1 John 4:1-7; Apocalypse 2:6, 14-15, 20-29; 2 Peter 2:1-19; Jude 5:19). Like Christ said to His Apostles, I will ask the same: Will YOU leave HIM too? May God bless your discernment.

I’ve always wondered what it would be like for me if I grew up in a Protestant family. As someone who grew up in a Catholic family I thought it was normal to pray to Mary. (To pray means to ask) I thought everybody did that! The catechesis was so poor I became atheist and then a Protestant. I hated the Catholic Church so much. Not because of the usual Protestant objections though. I hated it for turning me into an atheist. I was so focused on the legal aspect of mortal sin that I didn’t have a relationship with God. I didn’t know why Jesus died or if we would just have a normal conversation with God. Which is why I almost converted into Orthodoxy. I researched my way into orthodoxy and Catholicism. I remember saying. I wish I was a Protestant growing up. That way it would be easier for me to convert to orthodoxy. Since switching Churches who both have apostolic succession is very difficult! Now after researching I found myself back into the place I hated... which is Catholicism. Hah

The Eucharist has truly transformed my life (didn’t know it was the real presence at all). The power of confession was the one thing that kept me from leaving the Catholic Church. Even as a Protestant I went into confession. I felt so free after leaving confession. Like Lizzie, I was very uncomfortable with truth. I tried to intelligently not revert back at all. I was totally convince I was gonna join the Orthodox Church.

I am a cradle Catholic and I have to agree fully with you, Bao, and with Lizzie when you both criticize Catholic education. It was awful for me growing up and it is still very rudimentary. I taught one year of religious education at our church and it seemed to me that the program aimed for 2-3 grade levels below the actual age of the students. We ask very little and this is what we get. I think this is a carry over from when I was young that there is this fear that if you give young people all the information, they will stray from the church. Well, what happens instead is that they grow up without understanding and being able to defend Catholicism. They then fall away completely or convert to a Protestant church. There is a huge vacuum that they are looking to fill and in the process lose the rich tradition of Catholicism, the sacraments and the truth which has been in place for over 2,000 years.

I was so against rosaries because I considered them boring prayers, but when I changed to just pray 5 hail maries, stay silent for a few minutes, speak to the Holy Spirit, then resume with another 5 hail maries, everything made sense. I really felt connecting to God through my prayers. I believe the problem with Catholic praying is that not everybody connects with God when doing these prayers.

Lizzie, this is so helpful. I live and work with a number of Protestants and I never understood their approach to church; things like church shopping for instance. I grew up Catholic and thought everyone worshiped like me (boy, was I wrong). I would try to explain things like the veneration of Mary and how important it is. Then I would get the "your worshiping of Mary" stuff, sigh. I was really surprised that Protestant religion departments focus on the historical critical method of interpreting the Bible and not looking to what the Church Fathers said. Your videos and Scott Hahn's books (Hail, Holy Queen) continue to excite me about my faith. We Catholics need the passion of the newly converted to remind us of how wonderful our faith is. I remember Scott Hahn saying, Protestants focus on the menu and Catholics enjoy the meal.

When you learn what Catholics believe, it all makes total sense. I mean, it just became completely obvious when I read scripture. When I was Protestant, I didn’t even read scripture. They said it was important, but they didn’t explain why. When I became Catholic, I was like, “Hey, this is HOLY! Why haven’t I touched this before?!”

Jamee Hood he is the Steward of the Church. The second in command, tho that term is inadequate. He just makes sure the Church runs smoothly until Christ returns and is given some level of power to make sure that the Kingdom doesn't burn down. This is why the Pope can make decisions on matters of faith. Jesus knew times would change and sometime the Church needs to change with them and sometimes the Church needs to remain steadfast. Jesus thought giving the system Catholics have was the best course of action. Has it always worked? Nope, but as we see a rise in protestant churches supporting abortion and gay marriage I believe that Jesus made the right call. We often question God, it's human nature, but in the end God knows best.

CandaceWhite If you entirely research everything about Easter, you'll see that yes indeed the term is used later on in history (and also the word from a pagan origin) but the idea of the event, which is the resurrection of Jesus, the Paschal Lamb, is indeed historical, traditional, and biblical. But this is an interesting claim coming from a catholic because this contradicts what the catholic church taught for hundreds of years, teaching only in latin and not allowing common folks to interpret the bible for themselves. You are assuming your premise which doesn't make for an effective argument. Catholicism wasn't anything until the Edict of Milan in 313 AD by a Roman Emperor. Rome persecuted the real church of Christ for 250 years before that... How did the ancients Christians worship? What did they believe? Its in the bible. What you find in the bible is not what you find in the Catholic church. Something is wrong here. Elders (I guess this is priests and "bishops" in catholic-land?) are supposed have children (how can one take care of the church if they can't rule over their own household? 1 Timothy 3:5) Paul warned about departing from their doctrine - Galatians 1 and elsewhere. Why did the Catholic church add new doctrines? The church of Jesus Christ are those who are saved and worship God in spirit and truth. John 4:24, Acts 2:41 The catholic church has many teachings that are contrary to scripture. How can you worship God in truth if you cannot show authority for the things you do in the bible? Priests cannot forgive sins. Jesus alone is our mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5, 1 John 1:9) There should be no hierarchy or preeminence in the church. In Italian (I have Italian parents) we say Ave Maria, same as the Latin. It’s the first prayer I learnt as a tiny child so I still tend to say that one in Italian when I say my usual prayers but say it in English when I pray the Rosary❣️😊 I also taught it to my children in Italian when they were little. 🙏 I love your videos so much! You have taught me so much! Thank you for doing the research that I wouldn't have done myself. you make things easier to understand. I have grown up pentechostal and i'm still in that community, I have lots of friends there and my parents go there. It's only recently that iv'e wanted to take a step back to view things from an outer perspective. It's amazing that you became catholic just after I decided to think about what i actually believe. It all just sits right to me!! I didn't know much about catholicism, I just had a feeling that people in my church was a bit against it. I too believed you worshiped Mary and so on. I don't really know where to go next. I live in Sweden and there are not many catholics here at all, I believe. And I don't know anyone that is catholic. It's nice to have you Lizzie!! I'm really thankful to you for putting in so much time and effort to make people understand more about this.

Glad you studied it all out and sought truth. I had rather be a layman in the Catholic Church than a bishop in any other denomination. It all boils down to love and obedience to Christ in the end. I have been Catholic for 11 years now and it is the greatest gift I have ever received. The hardest part for myself was to realize that I had been living a lie as a protestant. Unintentional of course but it is one of the things that one must come to terms with. With all that is going on in the world today I want to encourage you because the torch will soon be passed to your generation. You are the light and hope of the world. There is no place like the Roman Catholic Church on the face of the earth. The one thing that I can say is that I live a holier life now than I ever have before. I am not a saint yet but the beauty of holiness is the goal of our faith. An imputed righteousness does me no good at all. According to Calvin and so many reformers I an still nothing more than a gift wrapped worm that Jesus presents to the Father. Our Catholic Jesus actually changes our hearts to long for and desire holiness and amendment of life. Ours is a supernatural faith of the Sacraments. The protestant faith falls short in it's understanding of grace and reduces it to mere belief. Thanks for sharing your journey with us my dear sister.

I just have to add one more comment. It's true some people think/read their way into the Church. But I believe God calls us. And He will use a variety of means. We come to the Church through being attracted to its truth, beauty or goodness primarily - sometimes some of each. You seem driven by truth. I am too. But others may meet someone Catholic who exudes goodness. Or it might be beauty that pulls them. It's not just the intellect that hooks us. 😊. Those without an education or tons of time to read can find their way in, thanks be to God. 🙏🏻

I think you touched on a key point: most Protestants don't study Patristics because they are afraid of the Catholic Church. Many, many converts have read their way into the Roman Catholic Church just be reading the Fathers.

I disagree about people not having time. We ALL have time. It’s about how we choose to spend it. How we spend our time reflects our priorities. When you want God more than anything & everything else, when He becomes your greatest priority, then how you spend your time will reflect that. So I guess a better reason for Protestants not converting would be apathy. I’ll be coming into the Church next year from a non-denominational background (which is funny to me now, because non-denominational is a denomination in & of itself).

One of the things I like about Catholicism is that in general, with very few individual exceptions, when we ask converts why they converted, it's asked from a "looking forward" perspective -- "What did you see that you were attracted to?" or "What drew you?" The next question is some form of asking, "How did your past make you ready for this?" or "How was the Holy Spirit working in your life, drawing you?" There's an old cliche from the 1970s-80s about "running" -- if someone made any kind of change in life, some people were suspicious of it, and would ask, "What are you running from?" It led to another cliche that was printed on posters (before we had memes we had posters for everything): "I'm not running from, I'm running to." I can remember planning a move to another state, and people asking me what I was running from, and I'd say, "Uh...um, I got a job there." And they'd say, "Oh. Ok. As long as you're running to and not from." Anyway, the point is, that suspicion just doesn't crop up much in Catholicism. We don't see converts as refugees escaping [a cult]. The assumption is that converts have developed spiritually and are cooperating with grace bestowed by the Holy Spirit. It's just foreign to think of converts as running away from their previous spiritual development, even when conversion requires some drastic breaks. I think that's because of a recognition that the Holy Spirit works in positive ways, not through fear. So there had to be good elements in the convert's upbringing or early life, allowing the Holy Spirit to build on grace. And that's recognized even while we understand that some people convert for other reasons -- but they can grow within the Church! And if they don't, it just fulfills Jesus' prophecy of the wheat and tares, so it still gives Him glory. But by and large, we have hope for one another.

Great way of explaining, Lizzie. I hope those of other faiths will see your video or explore/research in their own ways about Catholicism. They don't even have to convert, but just to slowly understand. I know many protestant people who know Catholicism passed down from their parents who understood it wrong... as if we are anti Christ. I just find it sad that instead of condemning one another, Christians should just all unite despite minor differences on how we praise our Lord. I think God purposely chose you as a vessel to make others (and even Catholics) understand our faith more. Blessings to you always, Lizzie.

Fear of the Unknown. Even after studying and becoming convinced that Catholicism was the right path, I was a bit intimidated. When I finally got up the nerve to go to Mass it was the most wonderful experience. I had never been baptized and I wanted to be Catholic. So, I went through RCIA, got baptized, confirmed and received my first Holy Communion. It was awesome. I could feel the Spirit of God within me.

Question: So my mom brought up a conversation she had with a fallen-away catholic (it wasn't very constructive). He said that since Catholics believe that the Eucharist is the Body of Christ then we are all cannibals. suffice to say my mom was dumbfounded. Have you ever encountered / had a similar opinion and how could one adequately and lovingly respond to it? I love the position that you come from because I've never even considered some of these concerns and honestly my defense of church teaching can get a little aggressive and preachy which doesn't help anyone. nicoolioo, you have to understand better the definition of transubstantiation. To make it short during the transubstantiation the bread and the wine become the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus IN ESSENCE while they maintain the external form of bread and wine. So as you see the catholics are not cannibals because we only eat the bread and drink the wine which essence have been changed into body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus but they keep the external qualities of common bread and wine.

When Jesus taught his disciples: "he who does not eat my flesh and drink my blood, cannot be saved", they were also unable to understand those cruel words. To me it is very helpful to understand the Pauline eclesiology about the mystical body of Christ. In the holy communion we receive the body and the blood of Christ, because by the merits of His Passion, we actually become part of his Mystical Body, in communion with the Church, which is led by the Saint Spirit. How could we be "sons of God" if Jesus is the only son of the Fahter? By the faith in His Passion and ressurection that happen in each eucharist, we can become part of His single body, both in the flesh and in the Spirit, so that we can join His resurection. How to understand the communion of Saints, if they are not part of the same body? Heaven cannot be divided, there is only one God.

The polarizing trends in millions now, are again born of a spiritually fallen state of being from a generational perspective that has thrived though the centuries. This is not just from Martin Luther but goes right down to when Christ indicated the departure of some of his disciples and division after hearing the words of eternal life in John 6: 60-68. You’re so right about Protestants not knowing church history. I grew up in an evangelical Baptist tradition and honestly that was a big reason why I’ve been steering away from that as an adult was because I don’t understand why we’ve so divorced ourselves from church history, the church calendar, etc. I really should research early church history because I still really know nothing about it, despite going to a Christian high school and a Bible college. In recent years I’ve been exploring some of the more higher-church versions of Protestantism (namely Presbyterian and Anglican) and it’s been very fascinating to me to start learning about the rhythms of the church calendar and a little more about church history and trying to understand more liturgical services. I don’t really know why most Protestants steer away from that historical connection but it definitely is something I’ve noticed and found odd.

Sola scriptura is literally self refuting, because nowhere in Scripture do you find a definition of what scripture is. Even if it did or had a list of books deemed as scripture you engage in a cyclical argument. It's the same cyclical argument that also persists in the argument for what "good breathed" means as well.

Ironic how Martin Luther created his theology out of "Sola Scriptura" but also decided to use his own authority to strike 7 books from the Old Testament cannon and tried (unsuccessfully) to strike some from the New (such as James). It's almost like he didn't even believe his own words.

Sean Whitaker From my observation Catholics seem to be against sola scriptura because Protestants use it to point out many doctrines that Catholics have that aren't found in scripture but in tradition. I always wanted to be Catholic. I really want to be Catholic because it looks like the ancient Church and many of my favorite philosophers are Catholic, but out of conscience I cannot accept many of their strange beliefs such as praying to saints, purgatory, and a host of other beliefs that have no scriptural basis. Catholic's greatest enemies are reformed Calvinist theologians and those Calvinists tear them apart when it comes to exegesis of the Bible since having a view like sola scriptura motivates them to study the Biblical text heavily.

LogosTheos I have take theology classes for 3.5 years now. Both myself and my Protestant professor admit that there's no Catholic teaching that isn't based on scripture. You just have to know where to look. Praying to saints has backing and support in the book of Revelation. Faith and works salvation has backing in the book of James. Matthew, Revelation, 1st Corinthians, 2nd Mac, and 2nd Thessalonians all give backing for purgatory when examined deeply. Calvinis theology is at best a convienent surface level understanding that facilitates preconcieved, and erroneous interpretations. Nice try though.

I appreciate your presentation, Lizzie. It's amazing how you maintain such an air of charity while explaining how easily protestant beliefs are debunked by the very bible they use to attack the Church that gave it to them in the first place. I'm commenting to point out that these misconceptions and lies about the Catholic Church permeate the mainstream media outlets for one reason; Culpable ignorance. I realize you imply this in the video, and I concur that most people (religious or otherwise) just don't wanna know nuthin.' And that's all well and good... unless you're a protestant. Unfortunately, what these (perhaps) well meaning fundamentalist and evangelical brethren don't seem to grasp, is that culpable ignorance is not an option if you're a Christian. If they truly love the Bible as much as they say they do, they wouldn't shrug off that part where we are commanded to be prepared with an answer. And if in fact they believe Catholics are in error and in danger of eternal condemnation, they are morally obligated to educate themselves about the Catholic faith so they can find the common ground and more effectively evangelize us. Any protestant that can't be bothered to visit catholic.com, or even to google the Catholic answer to their objections has no business spreading their ridiculous propaganda (let alone initiating a dialogue). Lizzie, I started following you on KZbin and Instagram a few months ago because I loved your anecdotes on living with Bipolar. I wanted to understand what hypermania and depression feels like and you expressed it well to your viewers. I find it really interesting that I first started watching your videos because I was researching and making myself aware about living with Bipolar and now I find your videos again because I am researching on Catholic Church. I recall that in one of your videos you said that you were Christian and that helped your through your episodes. I was amazed that your faith was that strong that you were able to overcome your challenges. Months ago I stopped watching your life updates because I got busied with other things in my life these past months. I was born and raised Roman Catholic but was only lukewarm and did things out of “tradition” and never really took the time to study what it means to be Catholic. I even discovered I have started having mixed beliefs and even resonated with some atheistic arguments. Ironically enough, the “thing” that made me busy the past months was because I found myself being part of a Roman Catholic Charismatic community. I believe it was God’s grace that lead me to that path and now I have been doing my own research on Church history. I found it amusing that your videos have actually moved from your anecdotes of your episodes to your experiences on Catholicism (which was a great timing on my respective concerns too!) I normally don’t comment on anything public in the Internet because I like to keep my digital footprint intact. But I have the inkling to share with you my own experience in finding your KZbin channel and I hope that my comment will help encourage you to keep doing what you are doing. Whether it is on mental awareness or preaching Christianity, you are doing it so so well. I grew up Protestant, but by God's grace, I have been led home to Orthodoxy. I've been going to a Western Rite Orthodox parish in my town since August 25, and it is by far the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me. Now one of my most fervent wishes is to see my mother and father walk through that door, some day, to join me and my brothers in the fellowship of our Lord.

Hey Lizzie when you were talking about Sola scriptura and how a person interprets the Bible when they read it from their denominations perspective, it makes me think of when I was still a Protestant how when I would read the Bible I would put on my "Assemblies of God glasses". It wasn't until that I took off my glasses and read the text as is, that's when I realized "oh my gosh I was wrong the whole time." 😂😂

I agree with all of your points except the one about the sex abuse scandal. I think people use that as an excuse for why they don't want to join the Church. It's understandable to be turned off by it, but as Trent Horn said "we shouldn't judge a religion by how its worst members act, we should judge it by whether or not it's true". Also, the media focused on it much more than they have on the abuse in other areas of society because many people in the media hate the Church, so we're an easy target. I'm not downplaying the scandal at all, and it's horrible that it was covered up in certain dioceses, but I think the scandal reflects the moral sickness and decay in our entire society. This is just how it manifested itself in the Church. The Church is made up of people, so it's not immune from the problems of the society it's surrounded by. I should also note that in the 60s and 70s, progressives infiltrated the Church and became priests, bishops, etc. They're the older ones now, but back then, they were in charge of the seminaries, RCIA programs, etc. That reflected our country's rejection of traditional values and our turn towards moral relativism. These seminary directors let gay men and perverts into the seminaries because they wanted to be seen as progressive and inclusive, instead of only letting in the men who were orthodox and dedicated to following every teaching of the Church in word and deed. That obviously backfired. So it's important to understand the context of the sex abuse scandal. In the age of the internet, there's no excuse for people not to research it and learn these facts. The scandal certainly turned people away from the Church, but God often allows the Church to have a period of decline in order to renew it, and I think that's what's happening now, as we see how many of the younger priests are very orthodox. Sometimes I think it’s pretty fair that the church wants to hide it, out of pressure for not being attacked literally on everything by the mainstream ideology. It goes out on the defensive. Yet if you know canonical law, you’d know that the church do not have prisons, yet they have the idea of exiling (some people might consider it as hiding up). Other times, you can’t punish someone if you don’t have proof just like every civil jurisdiction. They try to keep quiet, just not to make a stir about it since we know these scandals are pretty much the scoop of many mass medias

Chris, to put it in short, the short comings of a person like church elders, priest, lay persons etc. are their personal shortcomings as mortals, but not the shortcoming of the church where they belong. As said in the bible everyone have sinned, hence, if we use such shortcomings as a gauge in determining which is the true church, then there will is no true church that exists at all simply because everyone have sinned..

I think this is where people must pick up their crosses and follow Christ. They must leave family and friends who are going to love them only because they go to the same church but God loves them unconditionally. Either you are with Jesus or against him. Unless you leave everything to follow him you are not worthy of him. I left Islam and may not have a family anymore but I don't care, it's Jesus and Jesus in the fullness of its truths or nothing in my book. I will have to answer to Christ not my family or friends. So i am happy alone with my bible reading about how much God loves me. That puts a large smile on my face.

This is my interpretation of when I hear the words Hail Mary (or etc): hail2 hāl/Submit verb verb: hail; 3rd person present: hails; past tense: hailed; past participle: hailed; gerund or present participle: hailing 1. call out to (someone) to attract attention. "the crew hailed a fishing boat" synonyms: call out to, shout to, address; More signal (an approaching taxicab) to stop. "she raised her hand to hail a cab" synonyms: flag down, wave down, signal to "he hailed a cab" You are calling upon them to hear your prayer. Just my two cents XD Love your videos.

I am an Episcopalian but I am the music teacher in a Catholic school. A major part of my job is leading the music for School Mass. I direct the school choir and select most of the music based upon the lectionary and church calendar. I agree with you that conversion is something that would take a very long time, and that is why I am not doing so. I don't need to convert for any professional reason. I feel spiritually blessed to serve the Catholic church as a music teacher far above and beyond what I know is the pay differential between Catholic and public school teaching, which I am certified to do. As Psalm 84 says, "I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of ungodliness."

Wow first time I hear that some mistakenly thing that calling "Hail" is a type of worship. lol, we never worship Mary (faithful Catholics), but i can understand their misunderstanding. By the Mercy of God, we all receive graces from Him, prevenient graces, but it's up to us to cooperate with subsequent graces, so we can merit a reward. Sacred Scripture actually comes from Sacred Tradition, for Jesus didn't write anything and commanded His Apostles to *preach* to the whole world, and the first Christians were subject to the teachings of the *Apostles* (Acts 2:42), not anyone else that may come around. It was then that the Apostles decided to put Jesus teachings into writing and then the Church, the Pillar and foundation of Truth (1 Tim 3:15), decided which book were infallible. The Bible itself teaches that not everything is in the Bible (John 16:12-13) (John 21:25) ((2 John 1:12) (3 John 1:13) and that the Apostles also teach by Tradition given by God (2 Thes 2:15) (2 Thes 3:6) (1 Cor 11:2). There have been bad people in the Church who were not faithful to Her teachings, yes, and sadly so, but that doesn't take the fact that Jesus commended His Church to Simon by changing this Apostle's name to Rock (Peter) by giving him the Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and also gave authority to the Apostles, and their respective successors. Even in the early Church there were bad Christians (Acts 5:1-11) (1 Cor 5:1-2). Thanks for sharing your experience and testimony Lizzie!

Anne Maree In the days of the early Church, it is true that Easter coincided with a pagan holiday, but that doesn't mean that the Easter celebration is derived from it. If the meaning of the holiday is a celebration of Christ's Resurrection and the salvation he won for us, how could the holiday be pagan? God bless!

"Easter is a pagan festival in honour of the fertility god." Really? Ann Maree, I think you know full well that Christians do not celebrate a festival in honor of a pagan fertility god. I'm sure you know that Christians are commemorating and celebrating the Resurrection of Christ on the day commonly referred to (in the West) as Easter - it's entirely Christ centered and we only worship the one and only True God. The pagan fertility godess has absolutely no part in the Christian celebration of Easter. "Pascha" is a more accurate name of the holiday in which we Christians observe and celebrate the Resurrection

I will be confirmed next easter if all goes well. I grew up in a Pentecostal church and have been attending the (Protestant) Church of Sweden for many years (as well as worked as an Usher there for several years while studying, I still do in fact). I studied philosophy with a Jesuit for a few years (this was maybe 7 years ago), took courses on Gnostic literature at a Swedish university. Understood the importance of tradition, grew more critical of central protestant ideas and theology, researched what the Catholic church teaches. To simplify, I found catholicism deeper, truer, more in line with the bible, more beautiful and the better environment for me to grow in my relationship with the triune God. Also, all the things that Protestants have forgotten, like the veneration of Mary and the other saints (the Christian family transcends space and time), the Eucharist etc. The anti-intellectualism of the "free" Protestant churches and the liberalism and relativism of the modern church of Sweden. Also, in Pentecostal churches, I've come to see an idolatrous view of the earthly family, which makes some unable to understand the practice of celibacy amongst priests in the Catholic church (and also unable to understand Jesus' hyperbole "hate your family" etc.). I would have become Catholic many years ago if it weren't for the fact that culturally/socially it is kind of contrarian to do so in Sweden (very few Catholics, and practicing Christians in general).

MARK ADVENTURES the Eucharist. Once I understood the Eucharist it was obvious to me that it was the truth. Then I started to think... What are protestants even doing on sunday? Its nothing more than a motivational speech...

I was raised in a somewhat religious home the irony is because mom believed while dad didn't but neither really emphasized reading the bible on a regular basis but it protected me from being brainwashed and while i read it regularly now I am less narrow minded because my grandparents would have pushed their narrow beliefs on me. But I am deciding to be Catholic

Leanna Sullender, that means you don t have a church to follow?? Make some research comparing different churches and try to join one that make you feel closer to God. God bless you.

I said i have since chosen to follow the Catholic church thank you nice day but even in saying that even Jesus said no one religion is error free and many religions do push their belief as the ONLY right way and i did do research which prompted me to want to study Catholicism I was a member the baptist church 6 years but then something felt incomplete
