What makes Sean Evans a GOAT interviewer: 1) He studies his guests in detail, so he is comfortable with their personality from the start and he knows questions to ask that are more special and meaningful than normal. 2) He created an interview format that really unlocks something special and that feels real 3) he is really good at reflecting whatever vibe his guest has. This is on full display here, he doesn’t miss a beat with Lizzo, yet he comes off as comfortable and not forced at all. In doing so he enables her to be herself and set the tone of the episode yet at the same time he’s totally in control of the pace and the outcome

I DidnT know much about her,but now that I do I like her. I think what bothers some people isn’t necessarily her weight ,it’s the fact she’s completely comfortable with it and unapologetic. She’s not ashamed, embarrassed or insecure about her looks, which for a very long time, since the beginning of celebrity til very recently - we were used to tearing celebrities down and having them be insecure and constantly reaching for perfection, with all the surgeries, tricks and photoshop. You're exactly right about that -- they're bothered that she presents herself unapologetically, even though, ironically, a TON of Americans are her size, with more people becoming it by the day. It's giving self-hate in some cases, and insecurity in other cases, aside from general fatphobia (and misogynoir). People are so programmed to make fun of someone being big and are so programmed to expect big people to be embarrassed and apologetic about it, but Lizzo doesn't give people that, and so they don't know how to cope. I have seen/heard big men themselves make fun of her...even though they were big AND unattractive! But Lizzo isn't attractive "for a big girl," she's just attractive (and talented). Best of luck finding a medical practitioner that disagrees with him. So his statement is 100% correct. He wasn't mocking her, wasn't being cruel to her, and has only said what is being repeated by many people in relation to Lizzo's obesity and the manner in which she's promoting it. i.e - It's OK to be clinically obese and therefore deeply unhealthy and putting your welfare at risk. It's NOT, and that's NOT a message that should be promoted at all. I like Lizzo's music but while her mannerisms of constantly telling everyone how cool she is, how beautiful she is, how empowered she feels may come off to some as being refreshingly confident: I personally just find it annoying. Anyone who has to continuously say those things to others is probably just trying to convince themselves that those things are true. Keep your shoes on and stop throwing food during an interview >.

Agreed. He comes off much more genuine during these interviews, and I'm sure the fact that they both are going through the wings at the same time helps cut the tension and give both of them a chance to relax. But over the last decade or whatever, hip-hop and rap and all that has become a lot more mainstream and much of it is also more palatable for a lot of people, the more it merges into a "pop" sort of sound (whilst also being a huge part of defining what the "pop" sound even is). Essentially starting with Nicki Minaj, who was a lot more approachable and relatable for a lot of people. Then today we have loads of amazing artists who are very widely listened to. A lot of people are surprised to find how much they enjoy these artists that partly have a genre these individuals don't usually listen to, which is really cool.

I adore Lizzo! She is gorgeous, she is confident, and she is amazing! She’s definitely a great role model!
