It's so nice to see Lizzy (and Amanda Seyfried recently in the interview she did with Lindsay Lohan too) saying how proud they truly are to say they were a part of Mean Girls now as opposed to having been a bit annoyed cuz they were always linked to it back in the day. Really wish the whole original cast got to reunite in a new project, they seem to really enjoy and appreciate each other

I think she and Emmy Rossum followed similar trajectories, in that they both took on roles that were a pretty wild departure from what they were likely perceived to not be a good fit for - Lizzy with Masters Of Sex, and Emmy with Shameless, but then both did awesome with those roles. Also, caught a few episodes of Party Down recently, which is really good. Looking forward to it coming back.

It's interesting that Lizzy said she has a bunch of comedian friends who aren't getting called in for roles that are more dramatic. The casting directors must be idiots because I thought it was pretty well known fact at this point that comedians do very well in dramatic roles. It's not a hard and fast rule but more often than not they're capable of doing the role. A recent example, look at Aubrey Plaza in Emily The Criminal. She got cast in mostly comedies then had to go out and produce this movie herself and she's brilliant.
@AshLee924902 жыл бұрын
I think it's probably because they have to think of the audience and profit. Many comedians are great dramatic actors, but sometimes it's due to the audience having trouble letting go of images they have of certain actors. If you're known for playing "weird" roles, it's probably hard to get cast as romantic leads. If you're a child actor, it's hard to transition into adult roles. If you're the comedic actor, I imagine it's hard to shed that funny image to be taken seriously. Sometimes it doesn't matter how talented you are because sometimes the audience struggle with differentiating. Think about how many times someone has gotten cast in a role that caused an uproar simply because of the image they constructed based on the actor's previous jarringly different work, only to be proven wrong. To this day, even after many cases of proving that the viewers don't always know what's best, we still continue to declare with certainty about what actors are and not capable of. That's why it's so easy getting typecast, whether it's because you find yourself nailing a certain role that people see and that ends up being what people want to cast you as because they know you do it well, or that you play a role long enough that that role is all people see you as...

I'm pretty sure the person she was talking about that she couldn't say was Paul Bettany, because he was the original choice to play the character before being replaced with Michael Sheen. Look up the article, "Paul Bettany Exits Showtime Pilot 'Masters Of Sex'. I wonder if he left the show because he joined Marvel or if he had something against Lizzy. Also, when you compare what she looks like compared to her Mean Girls co-stars, it's insane. She looks like MAYBE 3-4 years older and they filmed it almost 20 years ago, meanwhile Lindsay Lohan looks like she aged 30 years in that time. Shows you how important it is to take care of health, but I guess a lot of it is the genetic lottery. Either way I gotta cut down on the drinking.

Never watched it for the longest time though ive always loved school/high school/teen movies growing up. Finally watched it last year after already having entered my 30s. Needless to say i wish i had discovered it sooner but also am very happy that i did finally watch it cuz wow, that film was just sooo much fun and is def one that i will go back to again and again in the future.
What I don’t understand about a film like Mean Girls is the notion that social politics in high school is something that either primarily concerns women or primarily impacts women. In my opinion, there are few stories being told about toxic politics within male friend groups, and I find that particularly interesting. Do no male writers in Hollywood feel that there’s a lesson to be learned for men about how they engage in social politics in their teen years? Controversial take, but I think that (many) straight men think themselves above it, when the reality is that I don’t think they have the media representation to even unlock that level of consciousness 🤷🏻♂️

True story that no one cares about. I live in LA and when I was younger, I would frequently go to this Mexican restaurant/bar that is a celebrity hot spot (Casamigos in Sherman Oaks). I was on a date with a guy I was dating and we were full on making out at one of the booths. Look, I know it's tacky but I was young, horny, and didn't care.....also it's kind of a dark restaurant so you cannot see that much. As we were in the middle of our makeup session, Lizzy Caplan is just a couple of booths down and then she started making out with the guy she was with. By the time she was doing it, then another table started to make out. It was truly something I'll never forget lmao.

In a way. I don't think the Breakfast Club has the same pull though, it appeals far more to gen x than the following generation. I mean I'm an "elder" millennial and while I 100% knew of The Breakfast Club it was pretty dated by my teen years in the 90's...which is only 10 years after it came out. Mean Girls still seems to have pretty wide spread appeal to teens now (zenials) and it's almost 20 years later.
