People like Larry & Robert really CARE about dogs! Thank you guys for putting out the free content for the sake of dogs. And thank you for putting up with uneducated owners like myself. I’ve been watching/studying your videos for two years and subscribed to Robert before getting a puppy and all I can say is thank you so much & god bless you and your families 🙏🙏

I rescued an abandoned rotty. So I had to rename her. This video reinforces my need to separate her name and commands, both verbal and physical. And to use physical after verbal, until the verbal is understood. To be firm, yet kind, patient, and persistent. Zoey is doing great now. Her stitches are clean and the incision is healing nicely. She was exemplary at the vet. The vets thought I had taken her to someone. And on a previous muzzled visit, for shots, one of them told me. I would have to take her to a behaviorist. I told her I've always trained my own dogs. And instead I sought to increase my knowledge. Thank you for your videos Larry. All of them, hehe. Peace!

I had a dog with the same name. With a female Rottie and named Zoey. She was the best...Rip. Just be patient and train her daily.I did it in a safe "fenced area. So she was not destracted . Also till I could read her quirks. Patients....It is rewarded with a Great friendship . Remember a Rottie will take on Satan himself . They are Fearless. ...

@@DougHinVA My advice was to be patient with rescues. Since some will have issues and they can be aggressive. In the end it was to connect with the poster . So ,Doug how many Rotties have you had?... without any inccedents? I HAVE HAD THE BREED FOR OVER 30 YEARS .... On my 6ths one... So , I have a bit of experience to share.

Hey Larry. No this video is Definitely Not boring. I Love how you break things down so that we can teach our own dogs. And see what we are either doing wrong or do better. I have a 90 lb 14 month old Rotweiller/Shepherd/Lab/Pit mix that is human and dog aggressive. Videos like this help a lot. So glad I found your KZbin channel. Thank you for helping people like me.

Great Video!! You really point out the main issue with most owners. Lack of communication. When I teach an obedience class, the first thing I normally say is "Quit touching and talking to your dog" The owners, unknowingly, are rewarding the behaviors that they don't desire. It really does break down to just a lack of communication between an animal and a human. An owner can teach a dog to sit by saying 'Refrigerator". The dog only knows/learns what behavior is tied/connected to a physical motion and/or a verbal cue. Once again, Thanks for a great video!!

For the last 6 months I have watched many many of your videos to guide me through training my Korean Jindo. You have been great, but this video is a must for EVERY new dog owner/trainer. My dog knows all the basics, but I don't always have consistency unless she is really into that particular session; I saw drastic improvements in reliability the very FIRST training session after watching this video. Thanks for breaking this down all into one video for us.

You can never go wrong with the basics, thank you so much. I wish I could share this video with a man and a trainer at Petco I was watching the other day. They used 1000’s of words and all the wrong ways... As a matter fact I watch this video with them and mind. I was delighted to learn a couple of nuggets for myself as well. It’s astonishing how much Phoenix and I have progressed since we found your videos two years ago. We still have a long ways to go to reach my goals for us but we are so far along compared to where we began. Thanks for your contribution, blessings

Hi Larry, I love all your videos and this one was, once again, fantastic! I've had my two year old Border Collie for a year and watching this I realise I'm probably really confusing the poor dog at every turn with my commands. There's nothing worse than taking the dog for a walk and ending up yelling and screaming at it to get it's attention and your dog basically just pulls the finger at you.

As usual, another great vid from the expert! I'm getting close to adopting a 10 yr old GSD of East German lineage named Thunder, who barks a lot both in and out of his house, is pushy (head strong) and slightly agressive but not in a dangerous way. Thunder's human passed away awhile back and he's been in a kennel for at least a few months and I don't know how close he is to the needle but they now know he may get adopted. I've been wanting to buy a GSD pup since my Dixie (GSD mix) passed away at 14 yrs last October but because of my age, a pup would most likely find itself in the same situation that Thunder is in now. I haven't met him yet (he's 2 hrs away) but I'm getting close to pulling the trigger if the kennel accepts me. I've been watching and saving Larry's vids for a few years and ignoring most everbody else ecxept Stonnie Dennis who has a unique methode of training several dogs together at the same time. It's the old 'Monkey see, Monkey do' trick and it works great for Stonnie. Larry's advice, instructions and explanations of the whys and where-fors are all golden. Larry is so spot on that I consider him a gift. And because: 'God's greatest gift to mankind is the dog'. It only follows that: God's greatest gift to the dog is Larry Krohn'. I'm going to refresh what I've learned in the past by binge-watching vids from my 'Larry's Best' KZbin Lib before I pull that trigger. I think I already know what my decision will be. With Larry in my head, I expect to pass the kennel's interview with flying colors along with my first meet-up with Thunder. Larry's 'video-gifts' gives me the confidence that this is going to work out just fine! I'll post Thunder updates here as things progress. Russ in NH

So glad I was able to find your channel. You are amazing with the dogs but not showing aggressive training. So much more I need to work with my bigger girl, she is smart but her change in how she has been in the last few weeks is my fault, not her's. Since my husband passed away and some other stressful issues, I haven't worked with her and kept the commands strong.

Hey Larry, Thank you! Showing the Entire training is SO Helpful... and others don't... like they want to keep it an in "industry secret". My personal opinion... that gets dogs killed, because their owners don't have the foggiest notion what to do and surrender them to shelters.

Hi Larry I love all your videos on dog training. I notice that most of the dogs you train are medium to large size dogs so if I were to get a much smaller dog would it be harder to lure into a wanted position as it is closer to the ground and my arm wouldn’t stretch down so low. Hope this doesn’t sound stupid? Also what treats do you give when you’re training? Thanks so much Marion, UK

I'm a bit confused. Michael Ellis told in one training session that your marker word "yes" should follow up with a reward not taking longer than 1 second. So if I recall my dog from around 10 meters away from me and I say my marker word "yes" I won't be able to deliver the reward under 1 second. In this case wouldn't it be better to use a filler word like "good" and "yes" when he arrived at my spot? Would really appreciate some clarification 🙏🏻

Hi Larry I have a 14 month old puppy. I'm training him for service dog work. He's excelling at A Lot of the training. But he Absolutely 100% Will Not Take Food. Ever. He was under weight when we got him because the breeder was free feeding. We got him hime and he refused to eat Anything (he would take... maybe 2 bites and walk away). He was Failing to thrive and just never gained much weight. When he starved himself, he lost weight. We barely kept him alive. The vet helped by trying canned food, cooked food, 20+ brands/types of kibble. Nothing worked. He's gotten better about eating as he's grown. But Will Never take food rewards. Ever. It's made training Extremely Difficult and I'm at a loss. He also doesn't respond to praise with even the slightest distraction and won't respond to toys. We've had 14 moths to investigate Everything. Should I try the e-collar next? I'm just baffled as to what I'm doing wrong? We're in Florida. I've tried Everything other trainers have suggested. He's even just started to blow me off and completely ignore me all together. Where am I going wrong???

Great video. I have a question on my Goldendoodle? He’s 11 months old and I’m not looking for a super dog just a family dog. He knows basic commands but there are times he loses his mind, he back talks literally, grabs a hold of our legs and will start humping us bc he doesn’t want to follow the commands. He chews on us if you try to move him with the leash ( enough to bruise my arms). What do we need to do when he absolutely goes bananas? I put him in his crate but it’s like wrestling a bear to get him in there when his crazy. Any suggestions would be so appreciated. I would be more then happy to video him on his great behavior and his crazy behavior. I know it’s us I’m just clueless at this point.

Sounds lime maybe too much energy? Try brain and nose games a couple times a day for 15 or 20 minutes. It helps build the ability to focus and self regulate... there are lots of google results that cost less than $10.00 us. Many are free, just using what you have in a normal house...

Hi Larry I have a 5 month old Weimaraner and I can’t get him to stop peeing and pooping on the floor and he won’t go outside and my parents say that if we can’t train him we will need to put him up for adoption any tips on how to train him
@sportysbusiness
@sportysbusiness 5 жыл бұрын
He won't go outside? Take him! When he wakes up, take him for a walk until he pees and poops. Reward it and keep walking (some dogs won't poo on a walk as they learn that as soon as they do they get taken home!). After you've played with him or done any training, take him for a walk and reward the peeing and pooping. At the and of the day, take him for a walk and reward the peeing and pooping. Before you go to bed, take him for a walk and reward the peeing and pooping. If he pees or poops inside, correct and take him immediately outside. Teach him what you want and what you don't want. Dogs are binary, it just takes consistency and structure.
@wonderbubbles4092
@wonderbubbles4092 5 жыл бұрын
Also, try putting his poo out in the area you want him to use. The scent will help him realize that this us the appropriate place for that. It may or may not help, but couldn't hurt, right?
