Looking at where Singapore is located, one must admit that the founding fathers of this nation had systemized a process that continues to offer the following generations to follow. The high salaries to the Ministers was meant to ensure that the very top brains within the society are attracted to take part to govern the nation. And without natural resources, it takes time to build its strength in any one sector and with competition from equally more competitive nations, Singapore will have to continue to maintain such a system notwithstanding of complaints from some local who find the competition too demanding but then what is your option? Singapore has rode on its location as well as its ability to take advantage of the regional scenario but I believe the scenario could change come 2050 or even even earlier: what would Singapore PSA do if the Arctic Shipping route is open to shipping when the ice of that ocean melts and diverts shipping from the Strait of Malacca? Would Tuas Terminal continues to expand to all the phases?
