Back then, when somebody said, "I'm Audi 5000", that meant I'm out, bouncing, or leaving. Cool J coined so many phrases back then. Peace L ✌🏽

I remember him buying this car. I worked parts at Koeppel Porsche Audi on northern Blvd and all the salesmen thought he was a drug dealer at first. One of my parts guys John knew was right away because he was a musician. Respect to this Brother. He did and continues to do great.

I remember that dealership. They also owned the VW spot on Northern and Broadway I would go there, there was a blue Wolfsburg edition Jetta on the show room floor I wanted to buy. I worked my ass off only to get my first lesson in needing credit. Today I drive an Audi A8L and that feeling he talked about is exactly how I felt driving it out the dealership.

I remember seeing this car in a documentary sitting in the driveway behind his mom's place I believe and my first thought was...that would be so cool if he restored it. And to see it restored to its prime is bad ass.

@R Robert Our leaders pushed for an honest and realistic representation of our people by way of Hollywood in the late 70s. However, blaxploitation was at an all time high. Hundreds of films were produced by men with an agenda. And they succeeded. It is unfortunate for everyone that these films did far worse than perpetuate African American stereotypes, they “introduced” these stereotypes to millions around the world. Including our own people.

@@Jstrikez300 right. They weren’t just looks. They were light and had a profile that helped with performance. Any time you can save on rotational weight in a vehicle you impact all aspects of performance. Acceleration, braking, MPH and handling all get a slight bump. And they mimicked a spoked rim… slick af.

Growing up in the NYC and watching hip hop evolve was a great experience. Park jams, DJs spinning on the ones and twos and the MCeees. The best time ever. I remember the red Audi 5000 in the neighborhood. also remember LL getting jacked for his gold chains and he’d laugh, leave and come right back with another chain. He had this car for 30+ years! Most rappers back then would trade-in cars left and right. Upgrading to a 560 Benz coupe from a 9000 saab droptop was common. But for someone like LL to keep a car he came up in for 30 years deserves nothing but respect!

🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤 Thank you, LL, for the memories. The most impressive thing I always was in awe of was your lyricism at such a young age. You spit rhymes on your songs as if you were battling EVERYBODY. You were never lazy about having the dopest production, writing your lyrics and delivering them with passion on wax and in concert. I felt you gave me my money’s worth and my time well spent. I have prayed for your continued success and supported your music, movies and shows. I can truly say “I love you, my brother.” Even though I haven’t met you yet. I subscribed instantly so I can check out your latest endeavor “Rock the Bells.” I think you should buy the Troop company and hire me to redesign the clothing and kicks! Ha. Peace god M.C. 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐

Peace. L.L. Cool J was and is most definitely a humongous influential and integral part of Hip-Hop and inspiration in life. Shout out to Grand Master Caz. He was the 1st generation of lyricism and variations to rhyme patterns when M.C.ing was still evolving from it's most basic form. Kool Moe Dee came later but in the same era then chronologically Melle Mel. Those are the architects who were the influences to L.L. Cool J, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap and KRS-One respectfully. These are the M.C.s that made flow and word play prevalent and influenced ALL future generations without them even realizing that techniques they take as being common and use freely were the contributions of the before mentioned M.C.s that either were non existent or not prevalent before they added on to the cipher. They (the latter of the 2 generations of M.C.s) were able to take it to the next level at a time when Rap and Hip-Hop culture was starting to prove itself to be more than just a fad.
