Remember this game. I was there behind the posts with my dad. Was also at the game the previous week when David Bishop was sent off. Peter Kingston was called up temporarily to step in at scrum half. Very disappointed at the end. Blatant knock on for Llanelli's try and the coach was eerily silent on the way back.

Great to see these old games. I was at the game as well. I was 11 years old standing behind the posts at the Town End. I remember looking at awe at the Pooler pack - Price, Squire, Perkins etc. It was the first time I'd seen Pontypool as they didn't play us regularly. Llanelli fans respected Pontypool more than any other club team of that era - and I remember the mood being that we were lucky to go through on that day, which was unusual for Scarlet fans to admit!

Look at the crowds and feel the atmosphere and its only a quarter final. Compare that to the few hundred that would show up now for the dragons v scarlets. The WRU have a lot to answer for. If we had kept the club structure and competitiveness we would be winning the six nations every year. You can tell by the way they played that it really mattered to them.

If it was a 3pm kick off then how did the lower league clubs players around Llanelli and Pontypool get to see the game ?

They didn’t nor their families, imagine the demand for tickets if they had moved fixture to accommodate
