Lloyd Cole... still a legend... always will be to me. The soundtrack to my youth. Lloyd and the Commotions were probably my favourite band back in the day. This man is a singer songwriter genius who has penned and sung many a fine song. Of course they all peak and they all fade. But personally, watching this... he's still got it!! He actually looks so much more relaxed and enjoying it than sometimes in the past. A very shy and awkward guy, but a genius none the less!!

David Hopkins very mellow performance. Totally agree with you. Class act and this song is just a classic on a brilliant debut album.Great memories and he is clearly his own man doing his own thing.

What a great live performance - Lloyd Cole is still one of best singer/song-writers this country has ever produced - I once waited for over an hour to get his autograph outside a gig whilst all my mates went off to the pub for a drink - They all thought I was crazy but it was worth the wait as I met him, the rest of the band ( Commotions ) and I was able to tell them how much I enjoyed listening to their music - I even lost a job once because I went to a Lloyd Cole gig instead a night shift!!!

This is a classic for sure, But us hard core fans will harp back to 84/85. This song was constructed for that Lloyd.

Hi. I misse the time when I was a young boy and listened to this and other songs of this gentleman. The years passed, he grew old and me also ... but the music continues to remind me the good things that I have lived. Thank you. A big hug and friendship for everyone!

@jehouse That classic riff from Steve Miller Band's "The Joker" was actually lifted from a 1972 Allen Toussaint song "Soul Sister" and SMB has acknowledged as much.

so I'm in this swedish pub full of the whitest nordic/anglos I've ever seen in one place, and in walks lloyd cole with a guitar who begins playing acoustic versions of his classics, bathed in the glow of light akin to a fireplace glow. Why am I surprised when this happens?

@jehouse Correct. I must have misread. Your statement did not attribute a brief riff at the end of this song to the Steve Miller Band, so my reply was a non-sequitur. Everybody wins.

I humbly apologise for agreeing with you, however just to clarify -when I said "You don't GET artists etc." I wasn't implying that YOU personally don't understand him, I meant and maybe should have said that he would never be invited to play at the Olympic bash as he is far too sophisticated a musician and lyrically highbrow for their tastes.
