I wonder today, how many that jeered the byrds/ gram Parsons at the opry realize what a pivotal moment in history it was to dare to venture into such unknown territory, and produce such a critically acclaimed classic album. Its too bad theres still many who dont get it.

They both played on the legendary album Sweetheart of the Rodeo. I believe it was Lloyd Green who played the unforgettable pedal steel on Hickory Wind. Very interesting to see both the guys that played steel guitar on one of the greatest country music albums of all time.

I've always loved the sound of a pedal steel but only recently started paying attention to who's playing and players names. I never knew that Lloyd Green played the pedal on the Byrds/Gram Parsons version of this song. Great to go back and listen knowing he's playing.

To each his own..but the thumbs down person may have no clue how difficult is to get to this level as a steel player and should at least appreciate that.

I think someone has confused the sound of a push-pull Emmons with an "all pull". I don't remember J.D. ever playing an "all pull" although he possibly has. The Emmons on this is definitely "push-pull".
