The Tuttles with AJ Lee at Redwood Bluegrass Associates (RBA) 20th season concert, Oct. 2010. This was a CD release party for the band and we thank everyone who showed up when they could have been watchin the San Francisco Giants taking the World Series. Thanks to Dan Booth from Kathy Kallick's band for playing upright bass for the group that evening.

This is the first time AJ sang this in public! I absolutely love the way she renders it with no frills -- just letting the song sing itself through her! I wish Gram could have heard this version.

Thank you ALL for such wonderful responses to a lot of hard work. Yes, these kids and the grown-ups who back them are industrious performers as well as just fine individuals. We appreciate your efforts to hang with us; it is an interesting journey!

Twelve and sixteen when this video was uploaded in 2010, AJ and Molly are 25 and 29 in 2022, and both are award winning musicians. Both are now miles beyond where they were as kids. This video shows why there was never any doubt what their destiny would be!

Fast forward 8 years, Molly Tuttle becomes a household name in the bluegrass community. I wonder why she doesn't use one of her many groups to do a version of this song in her solo voice?

I would love to hear AJ Lee sing more from Gram Parsons. Songs like "She", "Brass Buttons", "$1000 Wedding", or "A Song for You" would suit her voice.

@@alan4sure that's awesome. I've recently discovered her on KZbin and I'm hooked! I'm hoping to see her at the Huck Finn festival. I grew up listening to traditional Mexican folk music because of my background so I have an appreciation for Bluegrass.

Beautiful... You know this is what country was all about, around the fire on the porch, each playing his or her part, that makes my heart shine. This young lady with that strong voice, I'd wish her to be my daughter. Never been to SC out east, but I know the feeling. Each of us know. AJ carrying the torch of the ol' country.

This is one of my favorite Gram Parson songs, I have listened to Emmylou Harris, Keith Richards and even the Birds version and honestly the AJ Lee arraignment with the Tuttles is exactly how this song was truly meant to be sung. Great job AJ keep it soulful and spiritual and you will never go wrong no matter what the song or subject. Larry Milby

@@AJLeeMusic I feel the same way AJ, some covers are better by the new artist than the original. look at "Hurt" by Johnny Cash, is is way better that 9 inch nails any day... He owned the song, just as u and the Tuttles own Hickory Wind.

Not bad for a "...maybe we learned it"-song. Actually, it cant be better, and it makes me feel better. Thanks again. From Norway, where hickory is absent in the woods, as far as I know, but were common knowlegde for old skiers and of course used in shafts for hammers/tools.

Where did these people come from? Man they are good! It's nice to see people carrying on the tradition of good old Bluegrass music. I just love their voices, the instruments sound great too. I really enjoy listening to this kinda music.

Sweeeeet!!! It just doesn't get any better than this. Huge potential. Jack, you're doing a great job with these kids. Keep 'em together, keep it fun, and keep polishing. The blend of AJ and Molly's voices makes for something very special. Unsurpassed harmony, and along with the skills that Michael and Sullivan possess, you have the ability to create tremendous variety within the group. It keeps us all wanting more.
