Great video Josh. Brought back a lot of memories for sure. I paddled down the Lloyds in 1997. Can't believe it was so long ago now. We had only 1:50,000 maps to go by then to show the rapids, and they didn't really help us much. I paddled it with a friend of mine, but each of us solo in our own canoes. I was paddling a 16 foot kevlar prospector. We started the trip at the bridge there just below King George lV Lake. Looks like around where you put in as well. We did it in July, and less water than you had. Very bony at top half of the paddle just as you had. In some ways perhaps that was better with low water, as the channels were more defined, but oh my the rocks! Spent more time wading along with the canoe than paddling it the first day. We continued on down Red Indian Lake down to Millertown. All lake paddling but it was a great paddle along there as well. Anyway, thanks for posting and jogging a few forgotten memories! Happy Paddling!

Please don't take offense to my comment, but I don't know if you are careless, lucky or talented. You had me on the edge of my seat and you earned another subscriber, just be safe and scout the rapids.

Just to add one more thing. Perhaps you have already read the account written by James P Howley when he travelled up and down this same route? It was an interesting trip for him and well worth a read for sure, to get a glimpse on how it was before the area was disturbed in the years following. There is also an account written by a big game hunter by the last name of Selkirk, who canoe'd and hunted caribou along the route in 1901. Right about the time when the Millertown train line was built into the area by Lewis Miller. Also worth the read.

Keep living the dream, Josh. Always ready to see what's happening in Newfoundland. Huge fan of Justin Barbour - waiting for his year-long journey to wrap up so we can relive it with him. Journey on!

Your video showed up on recommended videos by KZbin this morning and I would have hit the subscribe quicker than I did but I got caught up in the video and was aboard the canoe for a while trying to help you navigate lol. Excellent video my buddy and new subscriber here now and notifications turned on so I don't miss any new ones. Have a great weekend.
