To add to Jerma's story, he seems to have forgotten why the owners tried to sell the house to you. This must've been just the final straw of a very long struggle of the owner(s) trying to figure out their life. They hired the cheapest and most dubious contractors they could find because they couldn't think straight, completely breaking down when the party they thought would salvage it all ends in chaos. Maybe the person who bled was the husband, who ended up dying from it, so there was no other choice but to sell the house they had just bought, in the hopes that they could forget everything that has transpired.
