Mr. Lloyd you're the first person I can think of to ever showcase Amish food. Love it man. I have huge respect for them and their community. Where I grew up, you can see horse-driven carriages and the like. My brother lived with a Beachy Amish family for a week. Good people. I have no interest in that lifestyle but it's very cool from an outsiders perspective.

It truly is one of the best parts of living in Pa.! Growing up with my great grandparents and grandmother they all used to go to these Amish markets and produce stands….it was like a tradition and I always looked forward to it.

i'm from the netherlands and currently in highschool. last week i had an english lesson in which we had to read a text about the Amish, and i must say that their lifestyle really has a certain charm to it. (altough i find it a bit questionable in some cases) really cool to see you make a video about them after i just found out about their existence ;)

Amish families all have different foods, like our did what translates to english as "cold soup" an it was bread shredded with fruit an milk. A friends family did coffee toast. They toasted thick slices of bread and sprinked it with cinnamon an sugar and poured hot coffee on it. We put milk on almost any type of food or dessert that was bread or pastry

Shoefly pie seems pretty close to a dessert we have in Britian called a treacle tart, it's made with treacle rather than molasses, so it's probably a lot sweeter.

Same here….I’m from central Pennsylvania and there’s Amish everywhere including a ton of Amish markets. Oh absolutely, shoo fly pie is phenomenal, been hooked on it since I was a kid.

I was at a convention called Motorama, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and the Amish food stall always had the best food! I came down from Canada, there's Mennonites where I live in Southern Ontario, but I haven't had any of their food.

Ill give a good description of shoefly pie: Its mainly a molasses, um... and then like a.. cookie crumb crust, as well as a topping. Its quite delicious, but really only if you, um, are a fan of molasses. Its really good though, mhm, its one of my favorites.

the amish are a cult but in a widely accepted sort of way, they have a long history, a lot of the germanic settlers in early america were amish, mennonites, and other similar culty religions. look into pennsylvania dutch history if you want to learn more 😊 my family is not religious but i have a lot of PA dutch ancestors and we have a very similar culture and foods without the religious aspect
