Cryo-EM17 lecture 10: Local setup and training - Shaoxia Chen & Giuseppe Cannone

The LMB Electron Microscopy facility currently has ten EMs available, including five 300 kV FEG transmission EMs. The facility provides specimen screening and automatic high-resolution cryo-EM data collection with a wide range of applications including single-particle analysis, cryo-tomography, and spectroscopy application.
The EM facility is primarily intended for hands-on research by students, postdocs, and group leaders, who prepare specimens, operate the EMs, and analyse the resulting images or diffraction patterns themselves. Full training or assisted cryo-EM data collection are provided by the facility staff.
This video gives a summary of the electron microscopes and other support equipment available in the LMB EM Facility, the configuration of each microscope, the guidelines for choosing the right microscope/right application for data collection, the information for booking and arranging user training, etc.
The EM facility is headed by Shaoxia Chen, assisted by Giuseppe Cannone and Joanna Brown.
