As I'm sure you know many times we in the healthcare field can jump to the wrong conclusion when it comes to this particular type of childhood injury. My son had this twice while he as a baby. Dr had us hold his elbow in my palm, turn his hand around, palm open and push back towards his body. Something to that effect. Been 18 years now but it worked both times. He was in so much pain you couldn't even touch his arm.

Same thing here, my middle daughter had it happen. Took her to ER and the Dr told me the same thing. Showed me how to pop it back in place. And told me to get used to it, because she had a classic case. And I would be making a lot of ER Visits if I didn't learn how to pop it back in. Bless her heart I hated doing it. But I got it done.

This definitely works! It’s currently 3:30am and I had to relieve my 3 year old of this. She had it before at 18 months when she was trying to run towards the street. The doctors told us it could easily happen again and it did in the middle of the night. She and her brother crawled into bed and were taking over our bed. I went to shift her and couldn’t find her arm. So in a panic I reach for her arm with a slight pull and heard the pop followed by her cries. She’s all better with range of motion watching Encanto! Thank you Doc!

And always teach mom and dad how to do the nursemaid's elbow procedure. Have them repeat the procedure in front of since this all may very well happen again.
@laurachapin2044 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! This happened to my son when he was two. My daughter was four at the time and yanked him out of their playhouse by his left hand. I was sure it was nursemaid's elbow but didn't know how to reduce it. We lived out in the boonies so it was a forty five minute ride to the ER. Fortunately, I watched what the Dr did. A couple weeks later, we were at an amusement park. My son was in a ball pit and my mother lifted him out by his hands from above. Couldn't yell out fas t enough not to do that. My son cried and my mother felt horrible. But I remembered the simple moves and popped it right back in. He went right back to playing! No parent should feel bad about this. It's common and nobody's fault.
