Is the decrease always the same? Like Decreasing from a 24 stitch count to an 18 stitch count will be the same as decreasing from an 18 to a 12 stitch count.

I have to decrease from 42 to 37 but I don't understand the instructions ....total basic beginner. It says [dc 5, dec] x4 ,dc12, dec (37) haven't got a clue . Ive managed to do 20 rows from magic loop now have 42 stitches and need to decrease help!!!! Please x

Ok so where it says [dc 5, dec]x4: you need to do 5 dcs (one in each stitch) then you do a decrease stitch, then you do all of that four times. Then you do 12 individual dcs and then do a final decrease stitch. Is that better?
