I agree wholeheartedly, but what ticked me off was even after healing mentally and physically she was so weak even in her Avatar state she was so weak. ATLA ended with Aang mastering all the elements, while he wasn't in his prime even then but it showed the true greatness of the Avatar. Korra was humiliated in this fight, she should have come back much stronger, not just slightly above Kuvira. The whole ending fight looked like a team battle. Korra looked weakee than ever as an Avatar in the end, the only growth she went through was as a person.

The battle Kuvira vs Korra looks very well executed, you can see Kuvira's abilities with martial arts and you can see that Korra's body is still very weak because of everything she went through, Kuvira was at Korra's mercy but as someone who suffered a bit of PTSD I can tell you sometimes even the smallest of things can bring you back to trauma, with Korra it was seeing Kuvira being vulnerable just like her in S3 finale.
@aylinpatacsil8463 жыл бұрын
Also, hammer vs scalpel. Kuvira's attacks were nowhere near as powerful as any of Korra's. Her attacks where tiny, precise, and focused on throwing Korra out of balance while Korra just wanted to clobber her. You can't last long with a scalpel, who flays bit by bit, the more you prolong it, the weaker you get. Su had the idea, as a hammer you have to hit with an overwhelming, inescapable blow intended to decimate.

@@Thomas-jo4rz That's a lie.
@Thomas-jo4rz3 жыл бұрын
@@AhsokaTanoTheWhite I think it sucks because of these following 3 reasons: 1. Mastering the elements Aang, the most powerful bender of ALL TIME (remember, he mastered all four elements in less than one year whilst Roku for instance took 4 years per element) had so much struggling learning everything in an all avatar-hostile world. Korra's story on the other hand starts with an ugly animated toddler mastering 3 elements at once. At least they could've built in some time skips of a growing up Korra learning from different masters. 2. Character development What does a NEW show based on a classic need... Repetitive replacement! Pretty sure that's the key! So let's take a completely genuine character, no one has ever experienced in this series before... A vigorously southern water tribe girl with a natural gift in bending and a sharp tongue against both women, but especially men. Yeah totally distant from Katara, no one will notice any similarity! Plus- Let's give our main character all the perks of being boring! No journey of mastering elements, because that became too mainstream in Aang' story! What we now need is a strong independent woman earning her place in a men's sport in a fictional world, where commercial sport is even more boring than in our world! Yeah but let's not forget the dangers she is facing! *SOME GUY*... yeah, that's right, let that sink in for a minute! No evil, world threatening Fire Lord who is willing to wipe out anyone but his own kind. Now we have this *SOME GUY* (or **SOME GUYS**..?) who do completely different powers and authentic reasons to be villains! Blood bending! (never seen before!) Energy bending! (also never seen before!) Equality in an era of Love & Happiness because you know war is over and shit, BUT YOU CAN BEND AND SOME OF US DON'T! 3. The Avatar is no more (Person & Series) You there, Audience-person! Yes you! You liked Avatar: the last Airbender? Loved the story of Aang and his friends and want more? Then you will be very excited about the news I have for you! A new show about the new avatar, who gets cut off from every avatar before (because fuck that, Aang&Roku relationship was gay, not cool! We don't need that anymore. Avatar, sheesh yeah, more like Pedovatar! Old geezer hanging around with 12 year old boys..! *Audience*: "but he was his mentor and that was cool..!" Shut up, we know better! No more avataring connections!) Like I said - Ex-Ci-Ted! (But not happy I guess...) But you will see plenty of those characters you loved from the original show! 150 year old Katara! No-Backstory Sokka! (Flashbacks only) "I-am-you-so-I-don't-need-to-have-a-significant-appearance"-Aang portrayed by Korra! Freaky-Friday-Toph! (Toph is in the body of her daughter only to appear in the new series! She's not blind anymore but topher, than she ever was!) And not to forget - the great Firelord Nho-Han Kaers! Get it? No one cares! Zuko became a stupid boring schmite-schmotus hipster (hip-replacement = old) And of course, the new cast, the despicable Schmavatar/TV-Sports-Star/Politician/Ghostbuster == Korra Watertribe! Love Interest #1 == Mako Firebrother! Love Interest #2 and Comic Relief == Bolin Earthfirebrother! Love Interest of Love Interest #1 == Rich Girl with advantages! And for all you Aang Lovers out there: Not Aang == Aangs son (the only badass in the series, air bending is crazy shit you guys!) --- And that's why Legend of Korra sucks --- It's based on a series we all love, takes the pain of stupid never should've happened movie and tries to appease us by giving a piece of old good times. And that's why people can't decide, if it's good or not. In my opinion it's not, because it nuked the Avatar-Fridge

@@Thomas-jo4rz all incorrect. 1. Korra didn't "Master" any of the three elements she learnt as a toddler. Also if they had had her learn all 4 elements just like Aang again it would be too much of the same. 2. You forget the fact that she was raised by the White lotus, a group of dusty old men and confined to her own place, remember, Aang fled that life and hid in the ice for 100 years, Korra didn't, she stayed and learnt water, earth and Fire, but was denied any air training until she was 17, that would make any teenage girl vindictive towards old men telling her what to do. 3. I agree with Lola. What this episode proved was that it wasn't a physical issue. They wanted you to think once she entered the AS that she was good and she would win, but her losing proved it was a mental problem and that is harder to fix because it has to be her who does. Thats why Korra was against fighting in the first place, why she didn't want to enter the AS, she's lost her confidence and is scared she'll fail again. Toph implied it earlier, Korra knew the poison was in there but she didn't want to fight it. But the poison may have been a metaphor.

The New Air Nation is only made up of a few people, not in any position to take on an entire country. 3. The Water Tribes are not united and were never good at fighting outside of their oceanic territory. 4. This leaves the Fire Nation, but they also just got over years of invading and conquering people, and the Earth citizens, even if they do not like Kuvira, would probably be weary of Fire Nation intervention. Also, the fact that The Earth Empire hasn't really declared War on any sovereign nations (not counting the Earth city states) would make an intervention really hard to justify. The consensus seems to be that as long as Kuvira doesn't pull an epic gamer move like Sozin did she can do what she pleases within her Empire.

kuvira may be dictator is the most literal sense of the word. But she is overwhelmingly popular with most of the countries citizens who over the last 3 years saw their lives improve greatly under her leadership. People seem to conveniently forget that the small number of villages she had to take by force were all conquered at the behest of President Raiko, tenzen and the other world leaders. They asked her to bring order back to the nation and absorb all of the newly independent states under the kingdoms rule. So everything she did before she took power was done at the behest of the very same people calling her a monster now.

I'd like to think Kuvira would have willingly stepped down as planned had the leadership been passed down to someone competent, as now would be the perfect time for reform in the Earth Kingdom, and not tread back to the Monarchy that we know is a failure for its citizens. Plus, the show has already done a great job to show how established systems of political leaders were already a failure with both the council and president in republic city.
@tommorgan90733 жыл бұрын
@@NestorFuentes001 I think I disagree. I do not think Kuvira would have stepped down regardless of who was in charge. Maybe season three Kuvira would have. Kuvira has not only built up a public identity, but deeply believes herself to be "The Great Uniter". While her ideals of unification aren't bad per se, it's her idea that she is the one who is meant to lead her country. I think the power got to her head and by the point she was ready to declare her opposition to the throne it was probably too late. The only alternate ending I could see happening is if she wasn't the actual general who led the reunification. The only situation I could see Kuvira not taking over, is if Sue had led the reunification and Kuvira was her captain.
@gemelwalters29423 жыл бұрын
Where did it state Raiko and Tenzen gave her the order to abuse and manipulate those small villages? They appointed her to unite the people yes, but I'm not sure how you got the rest. @killyourdarlings13053 жыл бұрын
Exactly. She's not a monster, she just became power hungry. And considering her backstory, it makes sense that she didn't want to step down, this was her chance to be respected and valued for the first time in her life. The decision also came from a place of national pride. She saw what the monarchy did to her people and she didn't want them to go through that again. She's very much someone who believes in progressive ideals, even if she's not exactly practicing what she preaches.

Weird to see so much hate to Kuvira, Azula was also a villain doing bad stuff but just being awesome doing it, so a bit why they love one and hate the other for the same reasons.

*_Kuvira's leadership and the Earth Empire is directly Suyin Beifong's fault._* 3 years ago she had the technological & financial resources to stop the humanitarian crisis that was the Burning of Ba Sing Se. Other world leaders even begged her to bring stability to her fellow countrymen. Suyin wanted the end of / complained about the EK monarchy - but just like Zaheer didn't actually have plans for the new infrastructure and administration that was required with said power vacuum. Suyin was a wealthy and privileged elite, who talked big about a better society - BUT never did anything till the problem was at her doorstep. Suyin I'm so disappointed.
@yorgosatsavelis33253 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thoughts, Shu just couldn't take the responsibility of action and preferred to do nothing. She said that she didn't want to seize any power but that exactly is the problem. Someone was bound to seize power. The problems aren't going to be solved just by themselves magically. That's why, even though she crossed the line in the end, Kuvira was an admirable leader. She took a great responsibility, she worked hard to establish order and stability and she created infrastructure all by herself and her team. She TOOK ACTION! Thats the most difficult and challenging thing!

@@yanim5425 It wasn't about a United Earth Empire. Ba Sing Se was BURNING - and she didn't do a thing to help...it's her fault.
@WakingDreamer01 Жыл бұрын
@@yanim5425 Again, it wasn't about uniting a Nation, it was providing humanitarian relief. Except that Ba Sing Se (and the EK in general) isn't exactly the "multicultural" hub that is Republic City / United forces. That means having "foreigners" entering, fighting and controlling the EK citizens is going to be met with much more resistance - even if they need help.
@WakingDreamer01 Жыл бұрын
@@yanim5425 The REAL question is why Suyin (an EK Citizen, a successful leader with power and resources) didn't want to help her fellow citizens? If you say she didn't want to grab power, then she was totally mistaken, as she could have used her influence in stablising Ba Sing Se - to guide EK into successful and cooperative - yet INDEPENDENT city states (like her own city). Because of her inaction Kuvira took the influence over EK instead (as many joined her because they saw her helping/making a difference), and pushed her extreme ideals over others.

I hated this season when I first watched it (still far from my favourite) but appreciated it more as time has gone on as it shows the more ‘realistic’ side of battle

🚨 (Maybe) read at own caution ⚠️ Now you guys see why she wasn’t fighting in book 3 finale. Kuvira would have been a cheat code. 1/100 Earthbenders can learn metalbending. Out of 100, 1 metalbender is more adept than normal. Lin, Sue, Wing and Wae for example. Or the .01% of the world. Kuvira is student Toph wish she had. The .001% her talent level exceeds everyone but one. The OG Toph! Because it sounds like tough!

I mean, this gets explained in the next episode I think and you girls may already know this but no one can interfere because this is an internal earth kingdom conflict, much like the civil war between the water tribes in season 2, and Kuvira already threatened all the other leaders to stay out of this if they didn't want to star a war like the one seen in the last airbender, and no one really wants that

It's funny that lola called kuvira hitler, as every villain in korra kinda represents various types of bad state systems - amon is communism, unalaq is theocracy, the red lotus is anarchy, and kuvira is facism. You can even count ozai as monarchy! 😊
