What a magnificent machine. Whisps of steam from the safety valves indicating full steam pressure being maintained as she aggressively takes the climb. Great driving from the engine crew - not to be overlooked!

I really like your filming style Steven, you take the viewer right to the line side. It’s so refreshing to see a tour running unassisted, it’s a far more authentic sight. I went over the S and C with Guardsman with twelve on three years ago, it was a magnificent performance.

10, 11, 12 on the hook, with commonwealths, but she couldn't care less. Top of The Shap and going like a bird, magnificent. Mr. S., might I ask a favour of you? Please never alter your videograph style. In my humble opinion, it cannot be improved. Many thanks.

Obviously a wonderful performance and I thought it might have been slip-free until the last scene. Your filming style without distracting zooming is refreshing and gives a realistic impression of the scene and experience.

You can stick the soulless 200mph modern trains give me a charismatic living beast of a steam engine every time.

Tremendous. I have only once been pulled by a Scot and that was on the down Mancunian in 1958. As a then trainspotter, I spent most of the journey hanging out of the window and it was slightly alarming to see how much the engine hunting - I think that's the word - from side to side at 70mph. Can't have been a lot of fun for the crew. I can't remember the loading but I think that it was rather more than 11 coaches which the engine, and again I can't remember which one but it's in my Ian Allan book, was coping with admirably. But of course the Manchester- London route via Crewe is relatively flat.

Great collection of videos of a loco that has been sadly missed all year. The sad thing is there is no guarantee that it will be seen next year.

As it should be!!! No Mk3 coaches... No class 47 banker... safety valves feathering all the way up and lifting the minute the regulator is shut... now THAT is how a Royal Scott should be operated!!!!!!! Another great video, many thanks!!!

That's good seeing it pulling the train itself. Sounds like it too . This loco was a regular on the London North Western line out of Euston and later when transferred, out of St Pancras.

Why do some of these steam excursions sometimes run without diesel as a backup, and others do, what are the determining factors?

Nothing quite like the sight, sound and smells of a steam locomotive working hard and doing what it was designed and built for, sadly, we can only experience 2 out of 3 on YT. Thanks.
