This show did the relationships so WELL. They turned Boyle's and Rosa's relationship into an amazingly strong friendship, and made her sure Rosa stood her ground when Charles kept trying to ask her out. And we all subconsciously knew that Jake and Amy were going to get together from the start, yet they made it subtle, and it was actually fun to watch it fall into place. Nothing in that show felt forced.

We talk as a fandom a lot about how jake is so in love with Amy but she loves him just as much. They are sweet

Yeah, they're my fave couple and Amy does love him but there's just too many factors that'll stop me ever believing that she loves him nearly as much as he loves her, such as beating him up, hurting his arm, shooting him (I get why she shot him though), casecation and the super cruel heist tricks she played on him in s7 and s8 while he got her the perfect gift that she arguably didn't even fully appreciate and some of her moments that show her love and when she says she'd do anything for him almost fall a lil flat with how she hurts him as he's the one who makes basically all the sacrifices and even gave up his whole career while Amy got to thrive at work and feel confident, competent and successful whereas stay at home parents don't get any respect and might feel isolated and unappreciated or might lose identity and confidence, especially as Jake was often underestimated and made to feel way less intelligent and not as good at things as Amy so while I know he won't regret it, Jake giving up his career and detective rank while Amy gets a big promotion might accentuate this idea more. They're probably one of the clearest examples of guy loves girl more in a straight sitcom ship, for me anyway.

Sacrifices have to be made and Amy tried to so hard to disuadde Jake.
