I went through this process last year and GIK was the best thing to happen for me as well. I built my own prior to buying proper ones and my room sounds 100 times better than my DIY panels. The analysis was the key to getting things sounding better for me.

Such a fun to watch your videos, time well spent, never leaving with less knowledge than before, and a big smile. I noticed your Patreon a little late today, but found the right button at once ;-) My walls are covered completely with wool-carpets and my cats love it, the acoustic too. But, I must admit, your cosy studio looks very nice and sounding so much better in comparison. The effort was worth it and a good decision to contact the company.

Thanks for your input! My little studio ended up in the smallest of all rooms. Sometimes a course and sometimes a blessing. A few months ago I treated a little corner with some acoustic elements just for the purpose of getting better vocal recordings. I was already convinced that the results had to be better after, but not by how much. After years of ignoring the subject completely and investing in all sorts of gear I'm now in the middle of upgrading my room acoustics and can't wait having everything finished and plugged in again :) As usual a very informative video.

Great content as usual! A/B with the acoustics, the vocals simple sound less muddy and roomy, amazing! I thought that you may make a one last small investment to have monitor stands and have the tweeter at your ears height, I did it in my home studio and mixes became less muddy. And thinking about ergonomics, your screen should be a few cm higher to avoid pain in the shoulders and neck after long hours studio sessions. Cheers!

If you can't attach a cloud to the ceiling, you can put a free standing baffle either side of the mix position then put 2 pieces of timber bet them on the top, then you can sit another panel on top of them :)

Hi! I'm about to get Yamaha's HS5 for my home studio, but I'm facing issues with distance from monitor positioning place to the wall. The distance is approximately 15-18 cm and I'm worried that it would ruin the sound in the room. And I don't really have other options of placing them differently. Would you suggest still getting HS5 or go for the ones with front bass port? I really want the HS5 tho. thanks!
@LNADoesAudioStuff

Just go with the HS5 if you want them. My speakers are just against the wall. :)

What if you have to deal with angled walls? I have 1 meter wall, and from there let's say 2 meters 45° angled wall (roof of the house) and from there a flat ceiling. What should be the best place for my speakers in that case?

Why on earth wouldn't the dude who is promoting himself as an expert acoustic paneling consultant set his video interview say... in his studio, maybe? Some smartly placed acoustic paneling plainly in view? Instead we're looking at a towel slung over the door behind him.

A good studio monitor does not depend on having a good acoustic treatment on the walls of the studio. You can´'t get a good sound with bad studio monitors just because you have good acoustic treatment in your room or studio. Good studio monitors always sound good in any environment. What we can do is not to let the sound escape with sound flow and get better acoustics. What I mean by this is that no one is fooled into getting a good sound with bad studio monitors just because they invested money in the acoustic treatment of their room or studio. Don´t have these illusions. Your studio monitors are very good and the same as mine. It's the Yamaha HS7 😁
@LNADoesAudioStuff
@LNADoesAudioStuff 3 жыл бұрын
yes true that good speakers are no less good in a different space, but their representation will be. So the correct representation of my mix will change. When I will get the room measurement mic, I will do better calculations on the representation of the HS7 in this room before and after this sound treatment. :) P.s we have awesome speakers! yay!

Any monitor, no matter if you consider it good or not will usually have variances of up to 30dB in an untreated room. With monitoring we do not look for good sound but we look for linear sound. So it is never a either or situation and it does not matter how expensive or linear your monitor is when measured in an anechoic chamber, as soon as you place it in an untreated room it can not be linear and honest anymore. That is the reason why every speaker ever made will always perform miles better in a room that has been treated well. Obviously a bad sounding speaker will sound bad no matter what ;) Cheers Lukas GIK Acoustics
