That likely keeps their minds from developing new tongues and keeps the old one going, like a system reset that deletes new words and concepts every time a person connects with her. But we did get sign language in this one, so perhaps another region could develop pictographs, actual writing, or Morse code. Maybe we’ll find a group that has specifically refused to connect with Ewa and that’s how they manage to move forward.
