I paid cash for a 5KW solar system with two 4.8KW lithium ion batteries and eight 335W solar panels 5 years ago. My electricity consumption was about R2,3k pm. My post-installation grid electricity consumption dropped to around R300.00 pm. Then I went to pre-paid, saving the R700.00 connection fee. So, with average savings of R2.7k pm, the system paid for itself within 2 years. Well worth investing in such a system because I run on non-grid energy for 20 hours a day, on average. I plan to add a silent 3kw generator or wind power to recharge my batteries faster for about 2 hours every morning so I can run on solar and batteries 24/7. The gennie’s fuel costs are ridiculously low enough to invest in to get off the grid. If you can pay for the system up front, do so. Bye Eishkom, hello cashflow and piece of mind.

Highly recomend that the public do NOT pay for any Solar Installations upfront.

Is it true a bank has financed millions to import batteries and now the client cant pay as market has dried up. Now the there are thousands of batteries that will need to be charged .
