Highly recommend their extended warranty. I have the regular 9500 generator that my dog (4 month old Border Collie) chewed through and destroyed the wiring harness. I went to Harbor Freight, told them what happened and inquired about a new harness, at which point they told me it was covered, bring it in and they would give me a new generator.

I picked mine up this weekend and did some initial testing last night. I'm impressed so far. However, keep in mind that the unit is only covered by a 90 day warranty and that the replacement plan costs are $260 for 1YR or $500 for 2YR. That might make the sister model, the DuroMax XP9000iH, with its 3YR limited warranty, dual fuel capability, remote start, and improved instrument panel a better overall value.

Harbor freight's warranty on their generators is 90 days. The average warranty on most other brands is at least a year. A customer shouldn't have to purchase an extended warranty to make them feel better or more confident in their purchase that it will be covered in the event of a component failure. The units that get returned to the store don't get sent out for repairs. They get sent back to the logistics shipping department and they get tossed out or recycled for scrap. Inverter generators are very handy however the inverter board inside can't produce the raw power a regular brushed or brushless generator with an AVR "automatic voltage regulation" unit can. It looks like a solid unit and their products have improved. I'd like to know what happened to that 11,000 watt continuous unit they used to sell. Your review was pretty good. I guess I just concentrate on longevity.

@@primeideasconsulting That is about what he was getting, he was pulling nearly 20 amps per leg on 240. Is your AC unit older? Maybe consider getting a new more efficient unit that requires less power. When you go off grid you do not make the off grid system fit the house!! You need to make your house fit the off grid system!! Most homes are waaaaaay inefficient. Hot water heater you shut off until you need it. Refer switch to an RV propane unit. Lighting all needs changed to LED, heat use wood. AC get newer more efficient AC and you may need to down size it. Use an inverter system with a battery bank, Never run a generator as a primary power mover. Make the power you need and shut it off! A generator that is off is much more efficient than one that is running.

Hi, we need to run 2 bounce houses, a photo booth set up and DJ sound equipment for at least 12 hours, knowing that equipment varies, would this be a good starter generator? Thanks for your input.
@NickPixelTV2 жыл бұрын
I would see what amperage the bounce house fan motors pull as well as the sound amplifier - those will be the biggest draw of power. If your using a more recent amp they are pretty efficient and most common are 110v 20amps or less constant. I don’t think you’ll have a problem at all with this setup. As far as 12 hours just have fuel onsite and you should be good to go. If the generator is at 1/4 load that 18 hours give or take at half load 9 hours so maybe have a 5 gallon fuel can with you just in case. Hope this helps you

HI there. I just subscribred to your channel. Could you do a step by step (bullet points) startup procedure? Let's say: 1- Oil fill up 2- Run for X amount of hours on high or low speed 3- Change oil / oil specs 4- Run for X amount of hours I think you get the idea. Thank you so much.

HF doesn't even seem to have a listing on their parts site for the Predator 9500 generator.

The parts for this unit are listed in the owners manual you should be able to pull the manual from their site. Hope this helps

Yeah it was wayy hot just to have it cranked and test generator but thing works solid across the board 💪👍

@@NickPixelTV good to hear! I've been looking for a genny that can power a TIG welder with aluminum (for structural welds, not art/thin stuff/etc), but that takes a ton more heat, so I'm not sure I'm going to find something that's in my price range...

Great video. Thank you! Do you know what the winding pitch of the Predator 9500 is? Is it 2/3, 4/5 or 5/6? If the Predator 9500 has 2/3 winding pitch, I can parallel the Predator 9500 with my Predator 2000 which is a 2/3 winding pitch generator per Harbor Freight Product Support. The term "winding pitch" is the ratio of the number of winding slots enclosed by each coil in the alternator stator to the number of winding slots per generator pole.

I have 2 of them for my BBQ Food trailer. We run ALOT of power and it's holding up so far. I'm manually paralleling them which should be the same thing as a parallel kit. Minus the 50 amp breaker. It does struggle but we have alot of equipment running. Powerhorse makes a parallel kit that ties them together but, no 50 amp breaker. Kinda like the Honda's. Same concept. I hope they make that parallel kit with a dual pole 50 amp breaker. Instead of single pole. Firman parallel kit does not plug in to this inverter. So don't waste your time.

Jason.... How much equipment are you running on your BBQ trailer out of curiosity? I'm looking to run mine on 1 ... (2) ton minisplit Ac-1000watts (1) fridge 450watts Hood fan 1,000 watts 12 gallon Rheem water heater 2000 watts Freezer 450 watts lighting interior/exterior 200watts So definitely under 6,000 watts. 1 Predator 9500 should suffice? Rest of my gear Griddle Charbroiler 2 burner Deep fryer Warmer table Is all on propane . . . Thoughts? Thanks 👍

Hey Nick! I hope you haven’t already answered this but, is it possible to plug in my 50 amp cord to run my 5th wheel RV? If so, how? Thanks in advance for the video and information! Tim
@NickPixelTV3 жыл бұрын
Tim, not a problem at all. Yes you can get about a 20.00 adapter on amazon for this it would be a 30amp to 50amp twist lock amzn.to/3eKDmZG This is probably the one you need just make sure that is the style receptacle on your rv. You will only be able to run at 30amps though but that should cover most if not all of your 5th wheel i hope this helps and thank you for watching

It seems like a pretty nice one, but not portable enough or quiet enough for Rv and camping. Do you have any suggestions for those purposes?
@NickPixelTV3 жыл бұрын
Depends if your running a big ac unit. I use a honda 2000 for camping and general uses. Hf also makes a 2k series predator as well.. if you want to run big ac the honda 3000 is good

I'd have to look it up, but I believe a welder is really just a heater. Who would need to run two heaters in that size space? Well maybe a retire or something, but that's getting off topic.
@tarquineous2 жыл бұрын
A heater is a much simpler devise. Just a steel wire instead of copper. For safety they have an overheat switch (switches the heater off). That's all. A welding machine is very complicated!
@ShainAndrews2 жыл бұрын
@@tarquineous A welder is a dead simple machine consisting of nothing more than a transformer. Yes they can be more complicated... but the originals were dead simple. I'd have to go back and watch this video... knowing me my comment was one of sarcasm.
@tarquineous2 жыл бұрын
@@ShainAndrews Shain, I serviced and repaired welding machines, both engine driven and plug in types. And I've been a welder for 41 years. I don't see anything simple about the new ones (after year 2000). I welded with one in a military museum. It was basically a plug in machine (440 volts), like on many military bases, and its output was a big generator. Very heavy, but all motor-generator with small control box. It ran smooth and welded very good. It was like a small trailer with a big heavy bullet on it! Stick rod only, as far as I remember. Now there are boxes with no heavy transformers. They work like an inverter. Incidentally, to test the welding machines at the rental/service company, we would use a (heater) called a load bank. Basically a bunch of heaters, each with a heavy duty switch. I could go on but, look up history of welding machines sometime.
