I’m planning a 65 foot wire loop loaded with 2 of the shorter adjustable Wolf river coils - one on each side of the feed point, 1/2 way down the limb, hence I can experiment with adjusting them for the best match.

It's in the instruction--they say make sure the stinger doesn't get shoved down inside the actual loading coil. Really only a problem on 80m

If you analyze the loop, you can find where the current is highest. These will be at the feedpoint, (both sides like you show) then also at the opposite side of the delta loop. These would be the optimal places to place the reactive components because the reactance would be minimal. If you try to load it at the current nodes, the reactance will have little effect. And no, you cannot make your antenna electrically longer by adding an inductor. It simply is there to cancel the capacitive reactance. It does not increase the radiation resistance.

I would also adivse modelling this on something like MMANA-GAL. I did try modelling a quarter size 80m delta loop a while back and seem to recall, while the coils allowed you to reduce the size of the loop, the radiation pattern was not that of a full size loop. This makes sense - the delta loop is just 2 dipoles connected end to end with one physical feedpoint and one virtual feed point (half way round the loop from the physical feedpoint). So, you can add loading coils just like you can on a dipole (x4 in total if you want to keep it balanced). However, reducing the spacing between the dipoles "messes up" their phasing and therefore the radiation pattern.

How about loading it with a wolf river coil . That way, you can add and remove inductance depending on the band

If you short the inner and outer conductors, the RF just views it as a wire. That might just be a 0.95 velocity factor, same as regular wire.

Dave, that would be nice giveaway, but I am trying to figure out how to put stuff up at my new qth since I have a power line in the middle of the yard. I used a 9-1 balun on the last delta loop I had on 6m. Been enjoying your videos as I get back on the air. ke4ooo
