@@filmismorefun I have a few questions. First, after you're done taking pictures, is the film supposed to go all the way in the canister? Or are we supposed to have the tip hanging off? Cause whenever I'm done taking pictures, it would automatically rewound and the film would go all the way back in the canister and it's always so hard to take out. Second, once you're done, are the pictures supposed to show up right away on the films? Or do you have to wait for a little bit for it to show up? Cause i tried 2 rolls and they're both blank. I'm getting really unmotivated, so if anyone could help me that would be great. Thank you!
@filmismorefun3 жыл бұрын
@Janine Nanola Hi Janine! Well, the roll of film needs to be developed before any pictures will appear on the film. So, to answer your questions- the film should be rewound back into the canister all the way to protect the pictures. If light touches the film before development, they will come out blank. There is a chemical process that happens during developing that makes the pictures appear. So on your next roll, after shooting and the roll is fully rewound back, take the canister out and send it to a lab like www.thedarkroom.com to develop. They will email your photo scans to you. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to dm me on IG. 🙂

I'm not sure how helpful this is now, but if you retract the film back into the cassette and load it into the new camera, you would end up with 10 double exposures (witch could result in some interesting effects) and the rest of the 26 photos would come out normal :)

@filmismorefun4 ай бұрын
If you rewind it you'll need to retrieve the leader from inside the canister. Idk what model you have, but it may count and auto advance two frames past the first frames (which are not useable). Also, some cameras load the roll so that it counts down from 36. If this was the case maybe an LED is not working and it only shows '3'. These are just guesses though, if it were my camera I'd just shoot it as is if it loaded in okay.

I just got my first film camera and I messed up on loading the film. I have a Minolta Riva Zoom 110 and from what I could see, there wasn't any teeth that the film grips onto. Only a small square that didn't protrude at all, it was just in a glossy finish while the rest of the roll was matte. My difficulty loading the film was that there wasn't anything for the film to latch onto when I pulled it to the left. Therefore, when I closed the camera and it was automatically detecting the film, it wouldn't go to the first frame. So I then opened up my camera and tried to load it again and the same thing happened. I *THINK* my issue was not laying the film flat enough. On the second try of loading it, I think that film was pulled out, but the camera didn't recognize it as the first frame. So I just rewound the film myself by pushing it back into the canister and pulled it back out to what I thought was the tooth and then when I shut my camera, it rewound to the first frame. How many shots should I expect to be ruined? I just want to take some "burner" shots to get back to the actual film. It was quite a bit of film that was exposed, I'd guesstimate that it was about 6 inches. The film I used was Fujifilm with 24 exposures.
@filmismorefun3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. It's about 1.3 inches (35mm) per frame, so at six inches you may have lost about 5 shots. There's always a small take-up at the start though, so you didn't lose too much more than normal.
@-sheepes3 жыл бұрын
@@filmismorefun Hello, thank you! I'll just take about 5-7 "throwaway" shots that I wouldn't really care about just to be safe. It looks like for my Minolta, there isn't anything for the film to catch onto so I have to rely on the film lead to have a bit of a curl to grip onto it.

@filmismorefun2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. A few things to try is keep taking a few more shots to be certain it's at the end of the roll. If you know for sure the roll is past the total number of exposures, try replacing the batteries. Worst case scenario, you can take the camera into a completely dark area (in closet with a blanket against the door bottom, etc). Then open the back of the camera, remove the canister and rewind it by hand. The film has to be completely in the canister before returning to the light. I hope this helps!

Hi there. If you are sure is at the end of the roll and it hasn't automatically rewound, you can try pushing in the manual rewind button. Most point and shoots will have a small hole you can depress with the tip of a pen or paperclip to force the camera to rewind. Also, often overlooked is to make sure the batteries aren't dead.

Hello! I could definitely use your help! This summer I got my first film camera (fuji film DL-320 ZOOM), not knowing many things about its proper use. So I had my film in it, and had only taken 3-4 shots. So it was getting stuck sometimes, and not turning on. The first time it did that, it eventually turned on itself after some minutes. The second time though, it didn't and I panicked cause I wanted to take a pic asap. I thought it had an issue with the film, not being properly placed or something, so I opened the back. I immediately closed it once the camera started counting frames backwards.It started from thirty-something and went on till 0.I haven't touched it since. Do you think all the film was wasted? Is there a way to rewind it and make full use of the remaining frames? Can I at least put it back in and normally take photos again, regardless of the previous ones?
@filmismorefun2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. After checking the manual, I see that your Fuji dl320 pre-winds the film, which means when you load new film in it takes all the film out, and as you shoot rewinds it back into the canister. The few shots you took should be okay, but the rest of the film is flashed with light and probay bad now once the back was opened. Here is a link to the camera's manual if you need it: www.manualslib.com/manual/769679/Fujifilm-Dl-320-Zoom.html#manual I hope that helps! 🙂

had a newbie moment and didn’t rewind after shooting, now i have loose film. is my film still salvageable? can i still get it back into the canister?

Oh no! If the film was exposed to light before being developed, then unfortunately no. If it was only for a quick second and you closed the back real quick, some may be salvageable.

hi, i just bought an olympus mju 1 and the seller had stated that everything works perfectly. i checked and the flash and everything works but when i try to load the film, it makes the whirring sound and then stops and it says that the camera is still empty, when i open the camera none of the film has gone through. i was just wondering if this a problem with the camera or is it because i haven’t inserted the film properly
@filmismorefun2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Unfortunately, this is a problem typical to some Olympus point and shoots. It happens with both my Olympus AF Tele, and Olympus Infinity Twin cameras. You can try stretching the film a little more towards the other side so the gears catch the sprockets better, or lightly push on the back while it's advancing. I hope that helps! 🙂

If there is not any hole to depress, then you may have to hold down a combination of the buttons to initiate the rewind mid-roll. I wasn't able to find the manual online, but if you have a copy that may provide some insight.

Hi! If you could possibly help me - I got a new automatic p&s 35 mm camera. It has a LED display and shows how many shots I have left. The counter was working alright until around 12-15 shots, now it went to 1, even though I didn’t drop or open the back of my camera. Whenever I use the camera, it count how many shots I took during one session, then goes to 1 again. The seller who I purchased the camera from suggested that it’s possible that I inserted film roll incorrectly to begin with, but overall he couldn’t explain the shot counter error. What do you think might be the problem? I already rewinded the roll and will develop it to see if I actually have any pictures on it, but it’s a little frustrating since it’s an automatic p&s and I never had problems with them in the past :(
@filmismorefun2 жыл бұрын
How many exposures was the roll of film? Some old (and now expired) films were only 12 exposures. However, if it was a 24 or 36 exposure roll, the film or motor may have jammed while winding. You may need to run another roll through fully as a test before trusting it will operate correctly.

my camera is a Goko UF-20. When I put the film in, the camera does not automatically advance the film and the film drive stays on S. Hi there! Does it make a 'whirr whirr whirr' sound, but the counter never advances to 1 or does it have no sound at all after closing the back? If it does make sounds like it's trying to advance and start the roll, you can try stretching the leader out a bit more so the advancing gears can get a better grip on the film.
