Been chasing relay circuit problems on my scissor lift with a power probe 3 for a week . Ordered the LoadPro and fixed 3 major problems in one day . Fused ground jumpers on connection blocks had to much resistance to allow relays to function properly. I used this tool in conjunction with my power probe 3 and they actually complement it each other wonderfully.

Load probe is a Cummins required tool. I just never needed a fancy tool to perform a voltage drop test. As a kw dealer trainer I know first hand the tool will work. KW does not recognize it as a replacement for loading wiring with a head light and testing actual voltage drop.

I'm a licensed Automotive and Heavy duty technician here in Canada. I use the loadpro and I think it is a great tool. Nothing against techs that don't like it and use another way of checking voltage drop but this is my preferred way. Loadpro gets 4 1/2 star reviews on Amazon and is carried on the the Snap-on truck rebadged as bluepoint. As well I believe it is a factory tool with a factory part # from Cat and Ups. Just because techs on KZbin don't use it doesn't mean it is not a good tool. Techs use different ways of checking voltage drop and using a loadpro is only one way. Did you actually use the loadpro or did you just rely on what you saw and heard from guys you subscribe to on KZbin? I do agree the inventor can come across as a d*ck and goes about promoting the loadpro the wrong way.

I use the tool and in the vid i do say i like the tool for what i do. I bought the Load Pro long before i started watching all the mentioned channels but Scannerdanner. I do know a couple of tech that like and use it. Busjocky1 is a heavy bus tech and he likes it but on youtube it had been a total fail as far a being used , what does that mean , just that they refuse to use it because they don't want to . Dan acting like a jerk makes no difference if it was needed and wanted they would be using it. A hard vid to do but there so much more to the drama LOL I know a lot of the channels and they have never told me to ever say a thing about the LP. This was my opinion only . Thanks for the comment buddy, all the best in the New Year.

If you like the tool for what you do don't title your video "Not a buy". Sounds like your video is not even based on your own opinion. I'm an average tech working mainly on construction equipment and find the loadpro to be a great tool. I think everyone has there right to their own opinion. Just wish you would give your actual opinion in the title and not bash the loadpro based on what others thought
@SteveRobReviews
@SteveRobReviews 7 жыл бұрын
BuzzerAuto Well I actually did change the title to - not a buy- I still think the tool is not a success on youtube . I said I don't know how it's accepted outside of youtube but it's a fail on youtube. Yes everybody has a right to their opinion and you exercised yours and so did I. I do not think I could recommend to anybody to purchase the LP when the vast majority of people I know think it's useless. I have made more that one vid on the LP and have told my views many times. The video is not based on my options entirely it's based on the channels I know and watch , it was a video about a tool not being used on youtube. I don't think I bashed the tool . I never said it doesn't work or it's a pile of crap , just an observation that it's a fail on youtube . I hope your not offended In any way . Cheers

The automotive community is not just based on YT. There is a whole other world out there. First off , they are at a minimum multimeter leads period. They just have the added benefit of adding a small load. Like you even mentioned , people don't know how it works because they lack electrical knowledge. Hell a lot of shops don't have decent electric guys. So many guys get fooled by voltage present that isn't there under load or checking ohms. That is the only thing it does, but trust me guys in shops do utilize it when applicable. But if you can back probe a circuit(under load) it's not necessary. It's an inexpensive tool that is just available in techs arsenal. And just on what you said, you started at this guy Dan, he just got defensive apparently

I've had a repair shop for more than 22 years and I own a load pro probably for 2 years now and I've never used it other to play around with it. If it had an adjustable load you could put on circuits it might be worth it but a half amp load is not going to cut it in this business. sales and practicality are two different things just because big companies sell something has nothing to do with how something performs. great video Steve your channel cracks me up.

Not sure why anyone compares the 2. Load pro doesn't do the same thing as a power probe. 2 different tools. Load pro tests voltage drops under a load and the rest is just your multimeter. Power probe is handy in situations when you want to know if the wire is ground or power. Really someone needs both

I find the LoadPro a nice diagnostic tool because it's not so simple to get that load otherwise,... PowerProbe is very convenient way to do simple tasks without reconnecting ground wires, etc, I would think it's a big timesaver if you're a mechanic. But I agree - no point in comparing a hammer to a screwdriver.

I live in Germany and I am not friend with anyone on KZbin so I don't want to take side for either one. 1) Ivans test started good and ended with a contraption that was an absolute joke. Ivan please just rethink that wireharness for one circuit test!!!! 2) Here in Germany mechanics are not looking for good tools but use what they have in the shop and their shopowners don't have any of the other nice tools you find out there either because they are not interested. They buy toolsets from car manufacturers. I know many shopowners and believe me they would use it if they had seen it in action, thats where Dan Sullivan failed, but instead blamed everyone for it. 3) from my own experience: honest to god ...... most of those car mechanics have not heared about voltage drop test. If we had statistics about it we would drive a large circle around them. So how could we expect them to even use a Voltmeter if their live depends on it. I am not joking this is a sad fact. I have been called from a garage where They knew me, to diagnose a starter system problem with my picoscope because not one could use a scope. This is a reputable dealership!!!!! Even on KZbin there are only a handful of really good guys. (I am an engineer and Airline pilot with no channel, so I am not competing with any) My cars have not seen a professional mechanic in 10 years. My repair bill has dropped to less than 100€ of parts a year with 4 used Jaguars. Sincerely, Bernhard

There's always a reason for what you see on youtube and some not so obvious. There's lots of room on youtube for people to show the LP but it has never been a tool used by many techs for a lot of reasons. Yes it does a voltage drop but from my asking it's just not a tool they want or need to do the same tests with and some don't like the theory of disconnecting a circuit at all to check for a voltage drop. I think my vid is accurate and it will never be popular in the automotive field. Heavy equipment and non autos seems to be where some prefer it. Interesting tool for sure.
@70corwin
@70corwin 7 жыл бұрын
Your dead on. The reason this tool hasn't taken off in the automotive field is because of the lack of talent or trained techs. Go drive to every shop you see and ask every tech and shop owner to explain voltage drop to you. Most wouldn't be able to. When i was a tech rep we would get a resister and a light and demo the load pro to techs. Hell i'd sell 15-20 a day out there on the tool truck. Next time i visited that shop i'd see the people that bought the load pro and it was either un-opened or the tech would tell me they forgot how to use it. the automotive field is in terrible shape when it comes to properly trained tech's. Its pull codes,go to identi=fix, order the top3 parts for that code, sell the customer all 3. roll on.... sad.
@bernhardlist9359
@bernhardlist9359 7 жыл бұрын
70corwin Yes, absolutely. Sad thing is that even applies to an oszilloscope. I have a Pico with all gadgets available and garages have such tools unopened because nobody knows how to use it. I educated myself over the last two years and I can diagnose a million faults today and even trained mecatronics could not test a bad ground for a starter, no joke. Recently I had a P0420 and the garage wanted to change my cat and both lambdas (1200€) when my wife asked them. Actually it was a stuck injector and so cylinder 1 pumped so much air through the exhaust that both lamdas showed an extreme lean condition. The injector was 90€ and at the shop nobody could interprete the failed/shorted injector on the pico. I am just a sparetime mechanic, maintaining my own cars. So if you give a screwdriver to an idiot he will use it as a chisel. I do use the LoadPro and it is a great tool but I also use a PowerPro4 or my Pico where appropriate. I can check a complete relay-circuit with the LoadPro before I roll out the PowerPro or Pico, but for a CAN Bus problem only the Pico can do. Have a great day (I ignor KZbin fights :-)

Bernhard List 70corwin Yea, sad to say, but you're so right on the spot, at least that's the situation here in Germany, don't know how it is in the USA. Let's hope education get's better with the younger folks, but i'm afraid, the whole technology is long gone and obsolete, before the average garage is capable to diagnose todays cars electrical problems on another base than just changing parts til the problem stops - success is mostly a byproduct here. Thanks God we don't have flatrate repairs here. Customer pays every minute spent and every part changed.

Ivan liked the load pro. He is about 50% a mobile diagnostician. He uses his own bulb hookup because he is mobile on so many jobs and is comfortable with. He sent it to Eric O who wants to try it out. Most testers are using led's or meters which may not find a poor (not totally open) connection. A bulb that will draw 3 to 5 amps will show weak connections that a meter or led light will not! The bulb tester is so old school and may cost $0.00 using old parts it has become a favorite. The Load Pro is a really nice tool, the positive test lead I think is the hurdle. It is too bulky. The idea is great, just can be difficult under a car and trying to plug your meter into a connector with only 2 hands. Ivan did like the tool though.

I often use my loadpro on my Power Probe Hook. I use it separately from the probes hot shot feature. It's nice to not drag around my small homemade loads. It's also handy with scopemeters and graphing meters. It would be much better if it had gold plated probe tips like the Probe master 8000 series test leads and interchangeable lead tips that have a sharp point to push through the conformal coating that I apply to some of the exposed terminals I install on switches, ignition coils, terminal strips, etc.. Both the Power Probe and the Load Pro are nice time savers if you work on low voltage circuits often. I find both most useful on long vehicles and trailers.

I guess you did not get a set for free to do a review on. this video is a way to get back at the product. it seems that you are not owning up to any of the tools, it is mostly based on other opinions from a different channel. what is the point of this video if you are referencing to other's channel ?. who cares what people think or who uses them. you mention that you like the tool but since is was not approved by reviewers of a different channel. since you have not seen it used by shop owners and people that does diagnostic for a living, you are not approving the tool?. I am confused and have concluded that you failed to know how to properly use the tool to appreciate the features? why don't you make a video and put it into action to show where it failed.

Great vid Steve. regarding the Load Pro. If no pro is using it,,, it's because is no bueno. As simple as that. Actually, that's the parameter I use when buying a tool, if the pros are using it on a daily basis, it's because it is essential in my tool box. That Dewalt gun, on the other hand, I've seen ETCG use the hell out of it for quite a while and is still holding up. I bet you'll love it. Have a great 2017 mate!

STEVE ROB Yes & no short answer. Yes I can but it's only up to a certain limit (total value) of which I get a portion back. Let's say I'm allowed to claim $1500, I might get $150 back, My yearly purchase is on average $3000 (mainly software updates), so I don't bother claiming, because the whole amount is not taken into account anyways. I do my own taxes... I should probably hire someone who knows what they are doing. Once I go out on my own (warehouse / shop), I can claim anything as business expense and will get back more... I hope. Lotto Max is still at 60M & 40 1M draws. I think us youtube guys should pool tickets!!!

@ STEVE ROB As far as i know this business as an 58year old mechanic in Germany, i'd say, you are very wrong with the conclusion you draw at about 16:47. The average car-mechanic is far from having better diagnostic techniques than plugging Loadpro into his multimeter. It's just like Sullivan tells you, there's a lot of poking around and guessing if it comes to electrical problems - and that's exactly, why the internet is full of terrifying storys about having spent thousands of euros/pounds/bucks and the car still having serious problems. I mean, really - the customer will never ever know, no chance, if all the expensive electronic devices a garage changes usually, were really defective, still functional or ruined by the mechanic. What Sullivan points out here kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5XKn4h3eal7b9E right at the beginning, around 2:30, hits the nail. This business is fucked up, mostly because the majority of mechanics, at least here in Germany, never ever learned to think like an Electrician or tried to read scematics. When i was in scool back in the seventies, cars technology basically had'nt changed for a 100 years - and we were the Baby Boomers, we still rule the shops - for some years to come. Since then - when we learned our skills and the first 2 decades of our practice - you know we really had a revolution in car technology and change is still accelerating. That's, why people are still using test lights and other potentially dangers for electronic stuff for troubleshooting - we are used to it from times gone by. When i got my Master Mechanic Degree some years ago they teached us instead, not to use testlights any more, nor even touch the ohmmeter , both techniques are said to be outdated, beeing potentially dangerous to electronic circuits. State of the art diagnosis is use of voltmeter only, measuring resistance ONLY indirectly via voltage drop. Not that we cared in a normal automotive shop, customer pays everything and he'll never know. For me things changed completely when i got into fleet maintenance. NOW the boss pays everything. And suddenly it's worth taking my time for REAL troubleshooting. And guess what - 90% of all that former changing of electronic parts or wiring harnesses was probably never neccessary - as Sullivan says - it's always something simple - but the way to find out is sometimes quite hard. Meanwhile i know -> a resistance of 1 ohm instead of 0.5 ohm -> that's my problem - and the reason the Truck fails. So - if the Loadpro's current draw ist reasonable low - it sure is, because i think from what i've seen, Sullivan knows, what he is teaching - this defined load test with voltmeter reading sure is the future and load test via testbulb is still here today but gone tomorrow.

Well you would be correct in so many points about the loadpro. It does exactly what it's designed to do and does it well, very simple design . This video was just referencing how most on youtube in the automotive field have not adopted the test leads for various reasons. You can have a great piece of test equipment but if most won't use it it's a fail. I have made 3 videos about the tool and have been fair in my assessment. It works for those that want to use it and for those that don't they use other methods. So on youtube it's still a fail in its acceptance as the go to choice for most in the automotive field. Would be nice to see it used more in other fields and shown on youtube. Thanks for the comment and it's fantastic you have adopted the leads in your line of work. Cheers

Hi Steve Just some points added: Most working people won't find the time for making videos - i would'nt even start that, slows me down more than teaching an apprentice while doing repairs. Live is short. Therefore you won't find so many hard working pros on youtube. Next: They only sell the loadpro locally. Kind of bad..... If i want to have one in Europe, it cost' a lot of shipping extra plus taxes -> comes quite expensive for what it is. I might order one anyhow next month - didn't know this thing until yesterday, when i was looking for pp100 reviews. And i know exactly, i'd need a loadpro far more often than a pp100 or powerprobe, a loadpro would have saved me time or effort everytime i fixed a green copperworm-problem, which is very common on cars and trucks here, where every mechanic is poking the wiring nearby the connectors, because it's just the way to "troubleshoot", when you're trained to save time and the boss keeps telling you, that durable repairs won't pay his rent. As soon as it is a wordwide selling device, the chinese will copy it in a minute, put it on alibaba as special offer and the sales will drop, what forces the price to fall down, as is with the powerprobe here since the pp100 copy came out - also nothing funny to look for - for the inventor (who sure spent a lot of money for this little bit of protection he got). I really wish him well to at least get his money back with the sales, sure no chance getting rich with it these days. His teaching is very basic, good for beginners without a clue to get into some fundamentals, therefore it has to be so slow and everything simple, but important, said at least three times, so that the beginner gets it settled, no wonder, the pros are not satisfied with his book, he should really point that out more. So - back to real life where nothing is moved on while sitting here and working on youtube-credibility ;-)

The only big channel i saw the load pro used on was Matt at Schrodingers Box. Personally i learnt to do diagnostics from SMA, Ivan and ScannerDanner so i do my electrical troubleshooting with a testlight. I have a wing wang power probe and my fluke meter. I personally don't see what a load pro can tell you that other tests can't. I'm not really into the dramz going on in relation to this guy who invented it. He sounds like a bit of a nerk though. I really don't think he can accuse Danner of being an idiot. He's probably one of the best technicians on the east coast. I got a set of those punches after seeing them on Jerrys channel. I'm eyeing up a similar model to that Bosch SDS drill. I have a job coming up to wire up data cables in an office building for a friend and last time i borrowed a cheap wing wang one from work it couldn't hack it and blew up. hahahaha

You know you right Matt, i forgot about Matt but he had just started using them. I don't know if he makes videos anymore. Learning how to do it from the pros that do it for a living is always a great foundation. I looked at a lot of SDS rotary drills and what i found was hilti and bosch were very highly rated. I chose the sds plus over the sds max only because the bits on the max were so much more. I cant wait to try it out. Cheers !!!

STEVE ROB Yeah. I haven't seen a video from him for a while. I think he was getting really busy at work last time i saw a video from him. I mean, he doesn't really do auto repair professionally. He is a very advanced DIY'er. People who do it for a living and bill hourly and have 10 more cars waiting to be fixed you have to work very efficiently. I don't necessarily see what benefit these is in most cases. You know Hilti really are the dogs bollocks. But they are one of these things that you can really only justify the cost if your a pro and that tool is going to work hard every day. 6 days a week for years. A friend of mine has one of those big cordless Hilti models. He paid over £1200 for it just at an auction. It was in immaculate condition with 3 batteries. One time i borrowed it from him i had to leave my car with him as collateral until i brought it back. haha

the marketing on this tool sucks, really BAD. i've been turning wrenches professionally for over 20 years and hadn't seen nor heard of this thing until I stumbled across a video on it 2 or 3 days ago. now that I know it exists, i've got one on the way and cant wait to use it. the time savings possible and avoiding the headaches and ass scratching that are inevitable sometimes when dealing with electrical by simply changing dmm leads and tweaking test procedures... hell yeah i'm in and if it ends up not living up to expectations, ill be back shouting from the rooftops not to buy it. the theory is sound and I see no reason it wouldn't work as long as you're using your noggin, I don't think ill be complaining but we'll see.

I just saw the LoadPro for the first time today. Watched Dans vid, then yours. I'm a ASE Master tech, and it's not often I need to load test a circuit and if I do I use a light bulb. This seems a lot better and I might buy one. Not many techs know how to load test anyway. Also it might not have much acceptance because if it's not sold on tool trucks they don't even know it exists. I've been a pro for 12 years and the first I have heard of it.
@SteveRobReviews

We it's not shown on youtube for the same reason. It's not required and many do quite well without it. Does it work yes , do I use use it yes . Would I say as a tech you should buy one no. Haha buddy it's a handy tool and for 12 years you have done without it but for those instances you run into that may require it I'd say stick to your preferred methods of doing a voltage drop but if you like the concept and want to do things a bit different I say sure. The biggest peoblem is loadpro is for the two-procenters, what is 2% you talked about it longer ago and i think you got that wrong its only 2% of the people actuarly doing diy automotive not the whole of youtube , and thats is a friggen small number because some who think they are a 2% dont have to exactly be one they think the 2%-ers is a club or something it is not! Thats why it is only 2% and i am not sure if i am a 2%er but i try and work on it. So the tool is only for 2 percenters as a market place, so how would you market it to 2% when you dont know who is a 2 percenter... This is the sortof obstical the loadpro faces , and you cant go critisise 2% and expect them to then buy your tool...... if the people who are your target groupe is already this small i was going to convince scanner danners brother to get the loadpro as he seems to be extreem open minded and uses the wierd test light as he calls it . If sullivan had used the cocacola guy like steve jobs did for marketing then anyone would now use the loadpro, not sure if i then would as i only have a apple usb charger as total apple products
@SteveRobReviews
@SteveRobReviews 7 жыл бұрын
Well James Danner is open minded as you say and the weird test light he uses i gave him. It does everything like a test light as well as a voltage drop. James is one sharp tech and the guy knows his stuff. Dan has really nothing to do with the LP in my opinion. If there was a need for it and it helped the professionals do their job better and faster they would be using it more. Yes some have adopted it but i just think it's a total fail on youtube because most don't want to use it. Marketing does make a difference in promoting a product and yes a lot of diyers would buy it for what it can do but i don't see the guys not using it now accepting it because of great marketing.
@IntradeMotors

i used the loadpro 2 week ago on a tractor similar to motoyama did a vid with his test light. i was thinking about that and making a video but you cant sortof go and ask a cleint can i make a video for youtube when they want there tractor fixed quickly. Now i did put my loadprobe down there in a tight spot and was thinking well yea if i used a testlight it be just as hard plus then the light would be down there where you cant see as i was pushing the button and reading the voltage , if it did drop or not . Plus if it did drop voltage i would know exactly by how much on the meter but it did not so i was done!! and called for a new starter motor . 5 secound to test the whole circuit with the loadpro if there is a fault it would take a bit longer then 5 secounds. With a test light you would either have a bright light a dimm light or non, so how much voltage drop is there , you simply dont know . Plus you can not fry a computer with the loadpro as where with a test light you sure can , scanner danner talks about the dangers all the time. The problem is loads of professionals are stuck in there ways they dont want to use a tool that does things quicker and better , i posted on shroedinger box that 60% of professionals are swaptrons also, He replied if not more. i might have made a vid if the loadpro did find a fault if no fault your done 100% in 5 secounds making a video from that is a wee bit hard.

Name one circuit on a PCM you can fry with a test light.... no one including Dan has been able to answer that question. The Load Pro draws TWICE the current (500ma) of a test light so how is that safer than a test light on a PCM if you hit the button???
@IntradeMotors
@IntradeMotors 7 жыл бұрын
The load pro uses the volt meter all you do is cause a voltage drop of what ever voltage is on the circuit so if reading voltage with a volt meter is fine then so is pushing the button to cause the voltage drop test. Dan is correct he failed to explain it correctly as it is so easy that it becomes difficult to understand again. What I recon most of you guys have a problem with is Dans anger. I seperate a person from a tool and it's how I convinced the Schroedinger box to get the load-pro. Test light has its place and so has the load-pro you can't use the load-pro for everything neither can you with a test light

The day that a diy guy uses the load pro on a system without proper knowledge will be a very bad day for that person. Even if not causing damage , a simple code set that they cannot clear because they are not properly tooled for it. That is why it's always a bad idea to unplug anything , let alone jab a load pro into it and cause a secondary problem to what they started with. Great video as always. If anyone ever has a question about when and where to use this tool on a vehicle I do ask that you please do not ask it's creator , as he has no knowledge of current automotive technology. I feel the reason you don't see it on youtube more in guys who work in shops is because guys are finding you can do most of it with a powerprobe III (and even more with the PPIV) which doesn't require buying a good DMM. Low end flukes are still fairly expensive. A PPH1 is less than a Fluke 88-5/87-5, and then buy the loadpro too.... and you're spending almost twice as much. My fluke with all it's nice lead kit was 600$. Loadpro was 80$ more... almost 700$ for that setup... PPH1 is what.. 200-250? What i don't see is diesel mechanics (commercial trucks, not like HD 3/4-1 tons) using power probes, and do see them using the load probe. My guess to why? Diesel mechanics spend a freaking fortune on tools compared to automotive mechanics. 15k worth of tools to start up on automotive, you need that all plus another 20k of tools to get started on large diesels.

You said the topic is the Load pro and why it's a total fail. You call a tool a total fail and your reason is because people on the internet don't use it? Then you follow it up with the tool does exactly what it claims. Then you talk about about your dislike for the inventor. I think this video was a total fail and you gave me a mix bag of contradictions but seems you made this video and call it a total fail cause you don't like the inventor.
@SteveRobReviews
@SteveRobReviews 7 жыл бұрын
Interesting observations. The tool works as stated but is not accepted on youtube on the automotive channels because they just don't like to use it and prefer other methods of testing. The video is about the tool being a fail on its acceptance on youtube and its the fact. You may not like the to hear the facts but you look for yourself and see who on the automotive channels are using it. I don't know the inventor , I did not make the film saying the load pro was a total fail because of him it is a fact it is not used and that's a fact. You can have a tool that works but if it not used its just not used. You don't like the facts and by suggesting I came to my conclusion because I don't like the inventor is false.

Hilarious that you think that because your youtube "buddies" don't use this tool, that its a total fail. You say yourself you are not a professional, why do you think anyone would take anything from your opinion as beneficial. There are many videos on youtube with actual technicians that use this tool. A power probe is also great, but mostly a glorified jumper. Two entirely different tools.

Name me 5 youtube automotive techs that use the load pro. I never said the loadpro was a fail as a tool but its a fail on youtube being accepted as a diagnostic piece of equipment they want to use. Did you listen to the vid or just assume what your saying because you're definitely wrong with your assertions.

I watched your entire video actually, thanks. There are many techs posting on youtube about the loadpro, even in the comments on this video. I just think its funny you think the best techs in the world are on youtube, and what they use, is the best way to diagnose a vehicle. Mostly think its funny that people are taking your opinion about the tool and the inventor when you have never even used the thing.
@SteveRobReviews
@SteveRobReviews 7 жыл бұрын
Now where did you hear me say the best techs are on youtube . I did not say that . You say I have never used the tool - wrong again - you're inventing an augment to satisfy your own needs. I have more that one loadpro video and have supported the tool and I have used it. It does exactly what Dan Sullivan states. You find things funny that don't exist. Your total rebuttal to the fact that the tool is not accepted on youtube has failed. You find it funny somehow but it's not - sadly Dan has lost lots of money with the loadpro and has declared bankruptcy. You are somehow offended that i'm saying the tool was not accepted on youtube . Well that's the facts. Yes there are some and I have promoted them and let them post their loadpro videos . One person I know Busjockey1 - at my friends dealerships nobody uses it. What does that prove - nothing just another fact. If you're going to have a rebuttal to a video state some facts and quote some actual words . This is a sad story all round and nothing in this video is funny.

The problem is that most mechanics do not understand the physics of Ohm's Law. That is not the fault of the inventor. BTW, the inventor of this product did not "invent" anything except a convenience, or a short cut, if you will. There is nothing mysterious or novel about applying a load to a DC circuit per se. No new laws of physics have been discovered here. He just packaged it up in a nice compact, portable unit with a "button". With that said, if you study the physics of Ohm's law to the point of understanding the full intimate relationship between voltage, resistance, and amperage, then you wouldn't need to rely on someone else to think for you. In all fairness, I question the inventor's 80% rule about problem wiring vs. problem components - at least in automotive. I have fixed enough vehicle electrical issues to know that is way off. I would say it is more like 15%. That means this tool will be used more to find out what is not broken vs. what is.

Dan is a very sharp tech but his demonstrations showing the tool and its acceptance on youtube has failed . Not the tool itself but the promotion you don't see on youtube itself . What does that prove , absolutely nothing but yes it's a flop on youtube capturing the mainstream techs on youtube . Danner is real sharp as well and he and so many other top techs refuse to use it . There are plenty of reasons but the one main reason is most prefer their own way of testing . Cheers

I also wanted to tell you, I think Dan Sullivan is a good guy keep in mind, He's a big equipment mechanic and he works with diesel engines. One thing to keep in mind is that snap on offers it, and I doubt they would go around manufacturing things if they do not sell. Also, it might not be the best idea to do things because everyone else is using it or not. His is a new way to look at troubleshooting, and the old pros are often slow to change, and prefer to do it their own way.

I see the LoadPro on the RealFixesRealFast channel all the time. They are all full-time techs on that channel and have 93k+ subs. Re Ivan's LoadPro video, I posted a pretty long comment with bullet-points on his video about what I thought was wrong with his video. One major problem with his video, IMO, is that he thinks the tool is marketed/designed to solve all electrical problems. It's not and never has been. Yet most of Ivan's & Eric's comments about it revolve around it. I haven't seen Dan's video bad mouthing ScannerDanner though. DS does seem to take things too personally and doesn't respond to it well, but wouldn't you if you invented something only to have people shit on it primarily because they don't understand how to use it?

Happy New Year Steve. I agree that most people don't understand its capabilities, just like most people don't understand the capabilities of a DVOM or Oscilloscope. I don't really gauge the usefulness of a tool on KZbin views though. Thats a pretty finite set of examples (e.g. its only the channels your subscribed to). I haven't checked out Busjockey1's channel. I'll give it a look see. Re the (over)reactions in Ivan's LoadPro video, I'm actually disappointed in Eric-O's behavior. Seriously. He's acting like a child. I'm not saying Dan is doing much better, but still. I kind of wish Mrs-O would read that entire thread and do what wives do best, tell us when we're being stupid. OBT333 is being a complete jack-ass for sending a back-of-gummy-dicks to Dan's house. Thats just stepping over a line. OBT333 may have been embarrassed a decade ago in front of people who probably don't even remember what happened, while Dan has now been embarrassed in front of his family. Thats much worse in my opinion, and inexcusable. Ivan's being a little hypocritical when he tries to police someone reprimanding SMA, but doesn't police SMA's offensive comments. His reasoning is that they are giving constructive criticism and that its because of how Dan mad mouthed them. Thats pretty much equivalent to a little kid saying "he started it!!!". Thats just sad, IMO.

I bought the Power Probe 3 because of Briansmobile1 as well. I gotta tell ya, the power probe 4 does stuff I just don't need. When am I going to need to watch the wave pattern on a fuel injector? I have so may DIY tricks around that at home and at work there's a scope. So, I'm covered. Scope? Easy but complicated. DIY tricks around it? Complex in that you can't rule things out directly so you have to know other tests, but you can get there if your don't ignore the evidence around the fuel injectors! Forgive me, but you'd prefer the scope. I think you have one. You didn't like my DIY fuel temperature sensors study, lol. It's okay. When I made it, I confused myself, even if it does work, lol.

When Schrodingers Box used the load pro. I watched him get excited. I followed his logic, and when I pretended to use it at work, I realized how I could instantly have the same result with another tool I already had. Sure, pushing a button is an instant faster, but moving my leads for another check doesn't exactly slow me down either. I struggled with buying it for a while. In the meantime a lot of simple tests got faster because of my Power Probe 3. And I got right back into the habit of using my DVOM for with a knowledge of electricity that would give me the same information. Once I did that for a while, I couldn't even remember how the load pro worked, lol. If I remember a bit...I'd always rather use the load that's meant to be on the circuit and test for voltage drop, rather than use a load pro to create a load that's the same every time, and not variable to the problem at hand. That said, I've had at least 1 moment where the Load Pro would have saved me from ridiculous contortions. "Oh well," I thought, "That's $70 of suffering that take long." LOL.
