One difference I noticed with cheap digital calipers, is how often the battery would be dead when I needed to use it. The cheap ones I eventually started removing the battery after use. Had the same battery sitting in the drawer now for a few years and a lot of usage. My expensive one has almost no drain after it goes to sleep. I use the cheap ones a lot more because I'm not as afraid to damage them!

Did a similar comparison test June 2024. I agree with you. Posts are always interesting and I never miss them. " I did this test of a cheap digital caliper that came from Temu. I ordered it to reach their minimum order amount -- $15.00. It was about $4.00. My main item was a $10 indoor/outdoor thermometer. The object measured is diameter of a hydraulic valve lifter from a Ford 351C motor. Yeah, most inexpensive calipers do a good job for getting a 'close enough' measurement. The main problem with the cheap calipers, is they tend to run down the battery. So, as long as you remember to pull out the battery when you're not using it and keep a spare battery in the case, it's not a big deal.

The most wear on a engines lifetime is normally during break in process on new engine, that’s why you should change the oil after 500-700 miles, I’m talking about a engine that will be service regularly, obviously you don’t look after your engine then you will get wear, but a engine that’s been looked after will have most of its wear when it was new, so always change your first oil after 500-700 miles on a new engine, can be synthetic oil which is not a problem.
