Hi!! I love loblolly pines and I’m about to plant some. I’d like to to know who far apart should I plant them and how close to the road? I do know they self prune the bottom limbs after they get older. Just wonder how close can I plant them from the road without possibly impeding traffic one day?

I own hardwood forest land but I'm planting loblolly trees between our house and the road for cover. For quite a few years they will provide excellent cover with their many branches and long, dense needles. I once planted a 7-acre former wheat field with loblolly trees and for over 10 years you couldn't see an inch into it.

Man, this is motivating! They look great. I bet it was a lot nicer planting those in a pasture than cutover land!

I hate when they curve but that means they are growing fast. Nice sub soil rows. Where did you get your seedlings!

Your growth rate is much better than ours (S. AR) but, as you say, we bought clearcut ground for replant. At 1:56, you might make a Xmas tree or decor or just cut/girdle the curved trunk trees at thinning ... not ST prospects.

Did you have to water all of those or did nature take it's course? I need to reforest the land I bought that had lost almost all the trees due to the bark beetle and so far Loblolly Pines seem like the quickest way to do it, however, I can't go up and water it. I have water at the property that is turned off at the moment.
@Buckswoodshop5 жыл бұрын
Plant-Based Prepper No, we did not water them. Good luck

Loblolly means mud hole, in old tymey talk. AKA is a bottom tree that wants water and has little fire resistance. If you want a fast growing pine pick the right ones for your area. There are many good options, but I can't really recommend any with out knowing where you are. In my case planted short leaf on my rocky dryer hills , loblolly in the wet bottoms and flood plan pasture and some slash pines and pitch pine in the pasture areas too

@@DeminicusSCA It's good to plant a variety of species when possible or practical, as you did. I'm planting some shortleaf pine along with my loblolly. (Since shortleaf might have trouble competing, I'm planting it in a different area.) Shortleaf makes especially good wood.

Dam those grow fast. I translated a pine sapling to a pot last summer but it didn't survive the pot over the winter. You have any tips how i can take other sapling I have growing wild and move them to a better place I would rather have a tree grow?
@Buckswoodshop6 жыл бұрын
Mopardude I’d try transplanting it in the very early spring when it’s still in a dormant state.

Great video. How much does it cost for a landowner to plant 1 acres of trees? I am looking for land to buy, and sometimes I see land for sale that's just cleared.
@Buckswoodshop3 жыл бұрын
Mechanical planting is around $100 per acre plus the cost of the trees.
