Hello Stanely , So when you are ready , your family sends a letter to her family informing them of the interest to come and pay lobola for their daughter and thereafter her family gets to decide when they will be ready to have your family come over for negotiations and the reason for this is to check the delegation's availability and to also sort out the logistics of hosting your family for this and just basic planning.

It’s part of the procedure , the aunts or uncles who are acting as guardians at the time will receive the money for the jacket and purse regardless.

Hello Portia , so in the case where you guys have a child before lobola , he doesn’t lobola the child , he pays “Damages” , in Tsonga it’s called “Ku khensa nandzu” which basically means acknowledging that he has a baby with you and just acknowledging that he gave you a baby before marrying you and after that , he can then come back and lobola you as his wife .
