wooden traps still in 2016, huh. And what's the point of the pvc pipe or whatever you're dropping them in, all it does it put the claws pointing up where they have a better chance of grabbing you as far as I can see.
@jeromeb15905 жыл бұрын
I fish in the gulf of Maine. We did away with wood traps in the late 90s wire is far superior. I get the consept of the tubes but don't like it. We do things way different here. New gear and a good boat is a must. Can u imagi e if they paired up or trawled up a wire trap they'd never use them out dated POS again

jerome b do yourself and others a favour.....don’t be an dickhead the rest of your life
@jermo314 жыл бұрын
jerome b they may be far superior where you live but we can still fit 4000 pounds in 250 wooden traps per haul lol
@jermo314 жыл бұрын
Joe Greaney they point of the pvc pipe is quality control. When in the tubes they dont bite eachother keeping the run of lobsters at top quality for live sale and strength for shipping over seas.
@jermo314 жыл бұрын
jerome b also trawls dont fish near as good here as the singles do. However on the north shore they run trawls of wood and do very well. And for the record i also fish half wire as well.

How do I go about getting a job on a fishing boat in NS/PEI? I'm assuming they are mostly all family run so openings are rare but any help would be apreciated. I'm thinking about heading down to Alaska for the salmon season but would like to know more about fisheries in Canada. Thanks!!
@jermo317 жыл бұрын
Matt Eaton you need some courses to be able to fish here and a licence. Alot are family run and its usually hard to find a spot.
