Great video, thanks for sharing! I didn't know you have Salmon in New South Wales. Are there any regulations or can you always spear them?
@WetMammal Жыл бұрын
Thanks Lisa! They are called Australian Salmon but they are infact a false salmon and not closely related to Atlantic Salmon at all 🤙🏼

Just finished cleaning yesterdays catch now I’m watching you admiring your spear gun, thinking about what to cook for lunch (curried fish is winning so far) and now a wet mammal hat. Great work Sam

@@WetMammal settled on Thai Green Curry using Spangled perch and made it my Sunday vid. I always dream of upgrading to a better gun. It’s great to see Aimrite are looking after you and your getting recognition for all the work you put in to making content. Loving it and keep going.

hate using a float, can confirm same here - I spear with a float for safety sake but getting out or in from the rocks is a nightmare and then I also work as a diver, one of the jobs we do require a float being dragged along while we are on scuba in sub 10m water. . . imagine the entanglement nightmares with all that gear!
@WetMammal Жыл бұрын
Jeez that cant be fun, one of the reasons I stopped scuba diving was due to the amount of gear required for dives

I'm about to watch this video but I'm team poor man's all the way.
@mistergormsby Жыл бұрын
Red rockies are one of my favourite fish but no way do they taste like lobster. The term 'poor man's lobster refers more to a method of cooking, than a particular fish. Overseas, monkfish, halibut and various cod all get the same name. The central tenet of cooking poor man's lobster seems to be boiling a firm white fleshed fish (like a red rocky) to give a firmer, less flakey texture and using butter, sugar and lemon to change the taste. I've never cooked one that way, but it would be interesting to try the comparison using the poor man's recipe against a boiled eastern.
@WetMammal Жыл бұрын
Thats fascinating and ill definitely give it a go, thanks for sharing 🤙🏼
@shanekay8278 Жыл бұрын
The poor mans lobster name came from boiling the red rocky. the spikes on the head of the cod are the nasty ones when spiked. Easy to cut off the fins before cleaning. I get excited catching a big one knowing it's a good feed.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing! Im yet to boil one so ill give it a crack. Yeah i probably should have demo’d that too haha
