Loc Talk #1: I HAVE BRAIDLOCS! (6 months into my loc journey)

When I started my braidlocks I wasn't feeling them....I saw alot of scalp and thin braids but now they are thicker and longer and I starting to like them at 4 months. I'm glad I started them in winter so I could wear hoods and hats wich will give more time for them to for before summers.

lisalovelocs xoxo yes I'm a little self conscious of the scalp showing after a relighting , but it doesn't last long. Patience is key I'm learning, because my braids still look like braids and I feel like they will for a while lol. Good luck on your journey !! 😊

I feel you about the difference between "liking " your hair & "loving" your hair. I liked my Sisterlocks & braided them, sewed the ends together to form traditional locs & now I LOVE my hair!💗

Aww, they look so cute and it warms my heart to see others deciding to go this route!!! Your reasons are pretty much the same as mine (I wanted Sisterlocks too but did not have Sisterlock money lol ) though I have never been to a salon or had anyone else do my locks. On the 23rd of this month, I will have had my braidlocks for 8 1/2 years and yes I STILL love my hair, loving it more than I ever did when it was permed or briefly as a loose natural. One of these days I'm going to do a seriously long overdue update on my braidlocks. Looking forward to seeing your journey!

I love your hair. I am thinking of sisterlocs but braidlocs is more affordable. My hair is shorter than my profile pic(I got tired and cut it in a tapered cut). Maybe I will start mine this summer, just letting my hair grow back.

That’s how i feel about my hair everybody loves it but all i can wear is a puff with head bands..i only love my texture when it’s weighed down by conditioner. This is motivation yours are sooo cute ❤️❤️❤️

I started mine the same way. Started as small, two-strand twists; went back and braided them!👍🏼I loved my natural hair, but it was too much manipulation and work everyday. Your locs look great. My hair is shorter, so I retight my own by interlocking. TFS

I want SLs too but I don't have SL coins, how do you suggest I go about finding the right information about microlocs/interlocs??It's so much info that its overwhelming and idk where to start........ Your hair looks great by the way!

tlovespeaksss I understand the information overload! Which is why I kind of just held my breath and went for it! I plan to learn as I go by following other people's journeys and learning from their mistakes and successes. I would think about the things that you are most concerned about related to locs and find blog posts/ videos related to those topics to be a little less overwhelmed. I hope this helps !

I have locs, I have a hard time keeping them retwised as well because as like you I like doing them myself and like to save money,. I like you braid locs alot, let me not call them anything different because the sister loc community will straight up check me real quick on there establishment and re tightening lol.

I feel the exact same way! I want sisterlocks but I'm trying to prove to myself that I can grow my natural hair past my shoulders 🙄 if I had the willpower you had I would do this too. Are your locks on a grid pattern?

38ktgold Girl yes it was A LOT of work, but definitely worth it and I certainly took my time!! I'm honestly not familiar about what exactly a grid pattern is, all I did was try to part as straight as possible and make the braids as similar in size as possible. From what I remember from some of your past videos, I think we have similar hair types and I think you should go for it!! Recruit some friends to help you out lol

I posted one video at 1 month locked. like I said I didn't like how they looked at that time 3months ago I plan to do another video in the summer when they are thicker and much longer. My hair hung long when it was loose so I guess I have to get use to y the shrinkage. my locs are looking much better at 4 months.

Do you have to be all natural to start the braid locks? my roots are more natural then my ends, still permed.

Unique nope!! You can definitely start them on relaxed hair but you would definitely deal with more slippage and unraveling. So you'd have to be careful when washing.

camille espy hey there!! The braided part STILL isn’t locked. I have a few that I started with twists, those locked in about a year. And I haven’t counted my locs

LADY K Hey! Unstretched they look just about the same at installation as they do know.. stretched I can notice a few inches of growth. I am getting some shrinkage though and am not able to stretch them as far as I could earlier in my journey.
