All the way back in the very early 980's, I knew the family who originally started Lynn's Saimin & Cookie Shop, they are a great family! The mom who began it all was a great chef and baker; the outstanding Hono Ono Cookies. Hey Amanda, back when I used to go there, they made one of the best Hamburger Steaks on the island.

Keep up the good work on promoting the local businesses. Great that you bring up the plight of the local small businesses and how hard it is to control their costs. The message is to support them even if their prices have gone up. When I was going to the university in 1970's, the Zip Min at Zippy's was $1.95 and a 16oz. rib steak from Chunky's Drive Inn (Isenberg and King) with two giant scoops of rice and mac salad was $5.00.

I would wish that the Hotel Tourism Authority would push to have all the hotels have as part of the HTA infomercials but a periodic segment of Amanda & Felix Eats that replays some of the existing Amanda & Felix Eats, as a way of educating visitors of all the known and lesser-known places to eat in Oahu. I don't watch too many other food reviews on Oahu, but I usually watch Amanda & Felix's reviews. I've been local for scores of years, but I'm not the connoisseur of Oahu cuisine as Amanda & Felix have covered. It would open up visitors to eat at so many other places and locations, if they want to see the different choices & tastes. Mahalo A & F.

I'm from Kona, went to college in Honolulu, now live in San Francisco. Sadly, small independent local businesses are definitely endangered. In a perfect world, city governments would recognize how vital these small businesses are to the overall health and economy of a community and work to protect and nurture these places. Landlords gouging is the primary reason for these outrageous price increases. The local business is placed between a rock and a hard place so they have no choice to increase prices to make ends meet. It's never gonna end.
