Privately booking appointments definitely increases safety. I was the store manager for Whole Earth Art Gallery on Central in 1993-1994. We were broken into several times, until I started staying overnight in the gallery with my dogs. The combination of delivering water and food to the rough sleepers in that block, and staying overnight/bringing my dogs to the shop, helped create a symbiotic relationship with the rough sleepers looking out for the shop/dissuading people looking for easy snatch and grab from sniffing around. And here I thought that crime was down, why are they lying? Someone is alway's getting shot and killed every day, and or laying in a hospital bed fighting for their live's. It's getting out of hand, and nobody seems to care about humanity anymore, they aren't going to care until something tragic happens to them, or to one of their family member's, then just maybe there will be change's!!!

Increase the class sizes at APD and improve the rentention programs. So many people want to be cops however even with this being the largest class size with around 100 officers in training annually, its not enough to accomodate demand. APD needs to fill the 300 officer shortage to get 1200 and that should include better retention programs so roles can be filled faster. When the roles are filled the city can do proactive policing rather than reactive policing. That's what really deters criminals is a heavily staffed department that has officers only a few minutes away at most, anywhere in the city.

Police aren't the issue. They arrest the offenders. The justice system/prisons let them out instantly/too soon

You’re forgetting one tiny thing, if the prosecutors don’t maximize the charges to make sure the maximum sentence is reached, and judges don’t help put criminals in prison, it won’t matter how many officers you have on the streets, application of the law is more important than the number of police officers on the beat

@@ck1abe515 We've already tried harsh prison sentences and they don't work. Especially when its with people who feel they have nothing to lose. You only have to look at conservative states and see how its hasn't made a noticable difference in those states. Also I'd rather not spend a significant amount of money on housing millions of prisoners. More effectively would be investing in behavioral/addiction rehab, education, and job training programs. It would be cheaper and reduce the recidivism rate, only to keep the most serious offenders that absolutely need to be kept behind bars. Most people can be rehabilitated into society, but locking up millions of criminals is unproductively inefficient.
