Totally agree Mike. As a former opening batsman, now long long retired, my sympathy will always be the the batsman who gets a decent stride in. Also, Umpires (and I respect you all) look where the keeper is going, often a dead giveaway.

Greg from old whits is a very good player. Hits it as hard as anyone in the league when I was over there in 2015! Took a couple of great grabs in the slips too if I remember correctly, was shocked when he shelled one.

Agreed - the LBW decision at 7:49 was awful - height plus long stride forward. Batsman should get benefit of the doubt. I've been playing club cricket for 35 years now - and even in the lower divisions, you don't normally get THIS amount of appealing! The team bowling first just seem to go up for anything even when the ball has clearly hit the bat first. I don't enjoy this aggressive, in-your-face style of play. I've been hit for 4's and 6's in an over - I don't bear any grudge against the batsman for giving me the treatment - I just try to adjust my bowling. Sometimes I get them. At the end of the day, both parties shake hands and say well batted/bowled.

Awful fielding from Whitgift, has to be said. Sanderstead make them look right village in the field. What a snaffle from Jackson! I enjoyed the chirp from the Sanderstead players around the camera, encouraging the bowler to appeal when he's been pasted through square for 4. The appeals were getting a bit much. I did have the honour once of opening the bowling for a Lake District sunday team V Caldbeck. I think all the 'proper' bowlers had had an interesting night followed by a challenging morning. I took 3 for 29 off 7...but, I could not get the one armed man out, sums it up nicely.

7.14 the appealing is ridiculous. Local league umpires should not have to put up with that. In the end they've bought a decision by screaming at him until he gives in at 7.50 when the batsman is miles down the track and playing a shot. Any players who will happily cheat to win at this level are sad cases in my book. Good job they lost.
