We distribute our solid waste in layers over our compost bins to feed them and keep them hot and highly active.

Ha, I use Milorganite on my lawn here in Michigan! This is too awesome. Technology for the future on a fresh-water starved planet!

They could use Vermiculture worms to process the fish solids into a high value fertilizer. They could also feed the fish solids to meal worms or black soldier flies and harvest high value frass.

Very informative video! I am taking classes in horticulture, and am learning about hydroponics and aquaponics. This video really helped me to understand it better! I have even seen Tilapia grown in an aquaponics system. Really fun stuff! Thanks! 🌿🐟

Good for you! I think this method will become more common as time goes on due to its efficiency and sustainability. Yes tilapia is a very common fish used for their fast growth and demand. I thought it was pretty unique that they are growing perch here. You're welcome and thanks for tuning in! 🌿

@@ExpeditionHomestead I agree, definitely more sustainable and efficient. Lots of fish are scooped by the billions in our oceans and lakes causing mass loss and possible extinction of species.

@@NatureMan1 absolutely! Thank you for doing your part by expanding your knowledge and making a difference. I wish more people had this mindset these days. It's starting to get better but we need as much help as possible to stop the greed that causes such damage.

Watching this in 2021 and trying to figure out why less than 6000 views for one of the most comprehensive videos on how an aquaponic system works. Just watched another from someone else, the guy describes it almost completely backwards and gets 800,000 views and hundreds of comments about how he is an expert.
