Arvind Panagariya is the chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, which was constituted on December 31, 2023. The Finance Commission is a constitutional body that advises the President of India on financial relations between the center and the states. The 15th Finance Commission was established in November 2017 and is responsible for recommending tax devolution and other fiscal matters for five fiscal years, beginning April 1, 2020.
