Local Lady Warns Me in Medan, Indonesia 🇮🇩

I travelled from Medan to Bukit Lawang by public bus. I stopped by a bakery to pick up some snacks for the journey and a local lady there gave me a warning to be safe. She saw my camera and was worried that someone would try to snatch it from me. Medan is known for having a lot of crime but I didn't see it first hand, thankfully.

@@Tanjiro__Kamado Batam is not like Medan. It is OK. It is basically a place for business, industrials, shoppings, eating, and so on. Even every weekend, Singaporean people usually go to Batam (Indonesia) and Johor Bahru (Malaysia), to do some shoppings, recreation, eat and dine, etc. Since Singapore's prices are getting crazier.

Trueee. Please be careful with your belonging. Also stir away from desolate area that scarce of people and dont go out at night when the street start being empty. Medan (also many cities in INA) currently suffer from heavy crimes of robber. Some wants to take your belongings, the rest just want to hurt you for fun. They use machete and knife, we call those criminals 'begal'.

He's probably someone that organized the parking space in that shop. Although it is unorganized (i.e. illegal), they were usually the one keeping your bike and helm safe outside of the shop while you shop inside. Usually they charge you a small parking fee.

Hey bro,take care when you going indonesia exspecially medan..i just recently come back from medan cause my wife from there.. if it's for tourists, be careful because there are many cases of robberies, threats, if it's night before 9 o'clock you have to go back to the place of accommodation. if you don't give money to the robbers they will kill you straight away

Let's be honest, even the local in every country have to be careful in their own land. So stay away from creepy people and situation if you realized something weird. Always go to a crowd especially women with a proper/nice/casual clothes, bank, police when you need help and don't only ask one person to make sure if the other person gives you the correct infos! I always do this when i travel to unpopular destination for foreigners.

she's warn you because it's too dangerous when the nights came out especially on Medan, there's a lot of teenage that's bring machete to do some rob until murderer things just for plessure, we called it "begal". you should more carefull when walk out at night in a big city like Medan, Makassar, Or Yogyakarta. I say this not to shame the city, but to commemorate the increasing crime rate there so that even the residents who live there feel uncomfortable and even afraid to go outside at night. ( the police are not on patrol, and will only come when something is going on)
