The fitting is an iron pipe to flare fitting,I actually pipe dope the threads on the flare side,and not the flare male end,it helps in getting it apart in 10 years. Always spray or leak test the gas shut off valve before leaving,a little tech tip. Mikey,you might be getting the cold shoulder from the good Ole boy supply house network in fl. I think you are on their radar!

Why are you touching the service valve on the gas meter that’s a no no Also turning the gas on that fast can blow out the regulator so in the future don’t turn it on so fast if your going to mess with the service side Also water heater needs a sediment trap 😮
