The HÉV vehicles are exactly what I remember from Saturday 1st August 1998, when I first visited Budapest. I still remember the door closing sound. At Batthyany Tér, the HÉV trains were just barely underground in the -1 level, and to get to the M2 platform, requires going down the escalator, but it has been 15 years since I visited Budapest.

This is one of the five suburban railway lines in Budapest with relay controlled trains from the 70's. As a citizen of Budapest let me say it is definitely worth riding them if you want to discover the little towns nearby Budapest. I recommend visiting Szentendre with line H5.
