Your channel was recommended to me by a friend who mates on a boat up in Oxnard. For the past few years I have been watching I have learned from and enjoyed the videos. You two make it look easy because you both long time pros. Thanks for the content.

Honestly it's cool to see Captain Rush throw the Conventional. I remember in the earlier seasons he mentioned that the spinning gear was all he knew. I was the same way but i had to put away the spinning gear and now i refuse to leave the dock without my Penn Fathom.

We are teaching him! He actually uses a lot of conventional gear for bottom fishing but not really for casting.

Awesome stuff, love smaller tunas on lighter tackle. Not from socal but I did some research on Opah fishing for a piece I wrote earlier this year. Sounds like they're mostly an incidental bonus fish, but I read about a few Cali guys who target them with vertical jigs below kelp paddies that hold dorado and small tuna. Y'all ever heard of anything like that? They're a really cool species, and apparently delicious.
@LocalKnowledge Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. We have been trying to catch them under kelp, tuna schools and while swordfishing. It's a little skill and a whole lot of luck. Hasn't happened yet.

@@LocalKnowledge gotcha. Always interesting to stay in touch with a fishery while it's developing! One of the coolest species out there. Hope y'all get one.
