The mothers of Russian soldiers involved in Moscow's invasion of Ukraine angrily confronted the governor of Siberia's Kemerovo region asking if their sons were "lied to" and being used as "cannon fodder."

@@neovenom9833 I have no idea actually. Most likely they will be sent to asylum, but I know that if somebody publicly insults (idk if gay is an insult from the point of russian law but it's definitely an insult among regular people although not that strong) authorities they will either pay massive fee or get jailed. You can make fun of them, you can protest or publicly express hate to them with medium consequences (maybe few days of arrest or an insignificant fee) but you can't swear. Quite logical to me. Politeness is key.

I'm a parent, and my heart aches for these moms. As a former American soldier, i joined because i chose to at 17 years old. We as soldiers never know where they might send us. But in many countries you must join the military, but there are exceptions. I can feel the anguish in her voice. I pray for these people and for the little girl I just saw die because of Russian artillery. I pray for all the other Ukrainian citizens who died. I pray for the Russian soldiers, who really don't want to kill, but are ordered to. There are no winners here. Only people who have lost. Some have lost everything.😔 I want to say, i ask God to save anyone's life, Ukrainian or Russian and for God to exchange my life for theirs. I've had a great life, i want some young person to live a good life too. 😭🙏🙏🙏 I'm sorry you are going through this pain. Leo from San Diego. We are praying for you. 🙏

Being born in Russia and seeing the new rules made by the government, I have to mention just how brave these mothers are. Asking critical questions and exposing the fact that this is indeed a war and these officials are lying, is a much bigger thing than anyone in the West could imagine. You can go to prison for this now. It's a huge deal and I'm very, very proud of anyone who stands up against this oppressive government and doesn't accept their lies and purposefully vague answers.

@@plunderpunk2 Agreed, I've noticed this as well with Americans. I guess you could argue that this is a good thing - the fact that so many people never had to live in an autocratic state where you could get arrested for stating your opinion, is fantastic! However it does make discussions difficult at times, this is why I don't mean to judge anyone and always try to approach people in a neutral way. I just hope that by spreading this kind of information, people will understand better. In times like these it's important to stick together, not fight over little, petty things. I've lived in both the US and Russia, even Australia and for the majority of my life in Europe and all these people are absolutely fantastic! The problem is clearly the government, not the people.

Basic military strategy any developed army would use. You wouldn't use your most experienced units as first contact unit but as first response unit. Locate the enemies -> find out their weapons -> use your units in the best matter possible to breach them Even back in the middle ages younglings to weak to carry a sword & shield and to inexperienced for bow & arrow would simply carry resupply arrows towards the archers or be the ones first to arrive at the gates preparing the breach You wouldn't send your best archer or best knights in the first gate towards the gate to tie some knots or check for their defences - only a stupid person would do, assume or suggest this because the result would be even more death among the troops. If everyone experienced dies first on basic tasks you'll have UNEXPERIENCED crew on the heavy gunnery as a result, which neither side wishes regarding to accuracy.

We are all people! I have lived in montana my entire life and grew up during the cold war. What always fucked with my head was everything view of russia (the USSR at that time) looked exactly like my land. It seemed like we must have so much in common. I didn't understand. My mother was born in Montana, my grandfather was born in Montana, supposedly his father was born here too. I grew up, almost joined the military and didn't based off of the realization that the person I killed in defense was only going to kill me for the same reason. Neither of our names would ever be known by our "leaders" and in a different world we might have been the best of friends. FFS I read my own comment and it sounds like someone foreign wrote it. I type a lot, it annoys me to no end that writing only matters to the reader. How you mean something is not how it's interpreted. All flowery language aside. I think many people are confused and disgusted for reasons of country neighbors. From a US standpoint many of us would almost view this as a scenario where the US invaded Canada. Almost no U.S. citizen would feel that was the correct thing to do. (granted we have a slew of crazies) Some have already expressed that desire.
