It’s unbelievable how expensive London is to live in. It is difficult for ordinary office workers to save money. Rent and transportation costs are also high.

It is alright if you live in the neighbourhood, but to travel across London one must take into account the transport cost or parking cost if you drive, this may not be penny wise unless their food is exceptional and unique!

@@davidchung4691 Wetherspoons is a chain David. Great comment, but it’s a chain so there are many across the UK! Give it a try! 👍🏻👏🏻

@Leojw10 Hehe. Baked beans, like it for my breakfast. We have Heinz baked beans in Malaysia and few other local brands. A decade ago, a can of baked beans @ 400gram costs around RM2.00, about USD0.50, now it costs around RM4.00, about USD1.00, over ten years, 100% increase of price. What's coming in the next decades for the cost of goods & services, cost of living, je ne sais pas. 😀

Wow. The cost of living in the fully developed cities in the world is really ridiculous & outrageous. I wonder what it's like working & living in London.

It's stressful, it's expensive, and because of these things people are moody. It can be hectic and British manners (such as queing for public transport) are almost non existent. The happiest people in London are foreigners.

@@Zauchi Wow. Reality bites. I wonder what are the main causes for all the stress & anxiety. Nobody can live happily in such an environment. Everyone rushing to get things done but not in a proper manner. The high cost of living isn't helping at all. Looks like people have to go back to the basic in life. Whatever it is, happy holidays. 😀

London is a very expensive city. £7 for a beer? Wow that’s robbery for me. Here in China a can of local beer cost 50pence or a bowl of noodles cost £1.5 or sometimes less. I can’t imagine how the poor or less fortunate people can survive. Seems the govt not doing enough to help its people with the high inflation. That’s crazy!

I've never seen this level of enthusiasm for weatherspoons before. It's a terrible business, treats it's employees like shit, its owner Tim martin is a tax dodging architect of Brexit and the beer tastes like cat piss. Can only assume this is a very long (and secretly) paid promotion.
@petyrbaelish1718
@petyrbaelish1718 23 күн бұрын
I agee that the level of enthusiasm is surprising given that it is only a Weatherspoons, but that's not to say it isn't good value for money and half decent. Some are worse than others, so providing you go to a decent, higher rated venue and select the better food and drink items on the extensive menu, then you will get a decent, good value experience. The alcoholic drinks and burgers are pretty decent. Obviously it isn't the Ritz with fancy dining. You get what you pay. As for Tim Martin, he is irrelevant when it comes to assessing the value of eating/drinking. People who try to politicise everything are usually biased and difficult to deal with in general.

I love south and west London different types of food cultures from around the world but tourists always go to London. uk isn't always about London the seaside towns are great to explore like my hometown Eastbourne known as being sunniest town in uk or my local city Brighton and Hove known as London by the sea as most Londoners move to Brighton. I do agree food and shopping is too expensive nowadays
@Yasin_Affandi
@Yasin_Affandi 26 күн бұрын
@Leojw10 Talking about shopping, hope that the VeggiesOnTour will get a chance to visit the Battersea Power Station. That historical landmark in London has been redeveloped by investment of a consortium from Malaysia. The main building for the Battersea Power Station is now a shopping mall, its surrounding is office & residential buildings. The King of Malaysia opened it to the public last year and from the latest news, King Charles made his visit to the Battersea Power Station few days ago. London still has many land properties for new investments. 😀

Fun Fact: As you have called it a few times; Everyone refers to the pub chain as 'SPOONS', but many may know that 'J.D. Wetherspoon's' was actually founded by a man called Tim Martin, so wonder were the name came from, pehaps? When he was thinking up a 'business name for the chain' - He took the 'J D' part from a character in 'The Dukes of Hazzard' TV show - J.D. 'Boss' Hogg. The surname 'Wetherspoon' came from a teacher at Martin's school, who told him he wouldn't amount to anything.... (Edit) FYI: In Great Britain & NI there are (July 2024); 798 'Spoons pubs' (England; 692, Scotland; 57, Wales; 46 and Northern Ireland; 3)

China is much better value, food is extortionate to eat here. So places like Wetherspoons in England are a breath of fresh air for people, people can get a proper meal for as little as £2.99 a good hot drink/unlimited coffee for only £1.50! Not bad!
