The UK was once a great place to live. We had reliable public services, fair wages, and low crime rates. Don’t get me wrong-it was never perfect. Our weather is awful and the UK hasn’t felt hugely wealthy or rapidly developing in living memory. However, we had something invaluable: stability. Taxes were fair, and the public services worked well, and most people had enough to support a basic yet comfortable lifestyle. While average homes were (and still are) very modest, and our cars and lifestyles were far from luxurious, we had what mattered most: stability, and enough time to spend quality moments with our families. But those days are gone. What was once a simple yet stable way of life is now slipping into poverty for many. Public services have stopped working, crime levels are sky high, and the stability we once found reassuring now feels fragile and uncertain.

The rot started all the way back in 1982 with thatchers bank reforms allowing banks to lend mortgages. That was the point house prices really started to creep up. Of course the higher interest rates and controlling hand of the bank of england made sure that home prices were kept low even till 1997. But come Blair, the bank of england was made independent..... they no longer supervised mortgages, and credit boom ensued....and this was the point tony Blair decides to start mass immigration..... Mass immigration combined with a 20 yr credit boom....is why life is now shyt for anyone under 40

@@EpicAelflaedNet migration in the grand scheme of things is not the biggest issue. This is the problem with the British, classic divide and rule, the media, the government and the elites have all conspired to put the nations attention on migration. It's the perfect smokescreen, people get soo charged up in migration they don't see anything else, all while the politicians, elitists, and capitalists suck the country dry. We have much bigger problems than migration, the economy is stagnating, as a country Britain is not producing or manufacturing much, the economy is skewed towards financial services, which do not actually benefit the country, apart from the few financial institutions, and bankers in on it. Taxes are going through the roof, yet services are continuing to deteriorate, wages are struggling to keep up with living costs, energy costs are the highest in Europe, housing costs are also out of control, the government is hell bent on pumping billions fighting wars abroad, childcare costs are through the roof, not enough children are being born, our population is ageing, national debt is climbing higher and higher etc etc. Even if 0 migrants came to the UK last year, the country would still be broken, and it would still be deteriorating. Don't fall for the government, and media tactics, of getting distracted by migration. Britain has much more pressing issues, that if resolved would have a much bigger impact on the quality of life of British citizens.

I live in NYC and I think this is a collective decline in all of society, and this is how we see it in the West. People lack basic people skills/manners and there is a lot of anger. If you're not one of the select few wealthy people, you're living in a really small space while commuting to work to do a job that's probably below the level of education you've attained that you probably hate which just barely allows you to rent the small space you go home to after work, which because you rent you don't own. This is your life on repeat, just surviving, not really living and having new experiences or developing quality relationships. There's little-to-no time for hobbies and most things we used to do in person are done virtually over the phone so there's a lack of connection. Companies keep increasing the prices of their products and, while we complain endlessly, we keep buying them so they don't have any incentive to stop. Instead of making quality music, films, and other culture which means less of them because they take more effort and time, we churn out consistently crappy movies, video games, music, and more because people have a shorter attention span and are programmed to always consume more even when they don't need it. Our social services are underfunded and thus not functioning or are one life support. They are understaffed and underfunded, which burns out and creates jaded workers in critical fields like nurses/doctors, teachers, and social workers. The morale is rock bottom in many of these industries and there is a lack of consensus on basic facts because everyone is consuming their own media, so you have lots of people living in the same physical space who are in completely different realities and don't believe basic facts. Almost no one reads an actual book anymore, and doing so if they're forced to is an absolute chore because they're attention span has been shortened considerably by social media, and most reading, at most by many, is reading a few paragraphs as big as this rant on the internet daily. . Because most people aren't enjoying their lives and the majority of their time is spent just surviving, drug use is high and creating a lot of non-functioning and mentally unstable people, which contribute to the homelessness, and crime, and are a strain on the social services even though I feel for them as an recovering alcoholic... Hell, in America you're paying for basic healthcare, which is just heinous. The countries other than the West have had worst living conditions so they don't complain as much because they're used to it along with bad governance, but this is a dip in living quality, overall standards, quality interactions between people, and emotional morale globally. If you're not wealthy, you don't matter and are basically a slave, and the wealth imbalance is absolute staggering because there could be no poverty, no hungry people, free healthcare and education, and enough housing if the money in rich countries was being horded by a few. When my father was young and came home from fighting in Vietnam in '69, it was very easy to work an average job, like being a postman or a plumber (not meant to offend, just off the top of my head, those aren't easy jobs), and own a home, a car or two, and do things like go on family trips and afford your healthcare. We live in a dystopia, feeding on scraps, and it's not confined to a single country, culture, people, religion, etc. Sorry for the rant.

Reasons to Leave Britain: Cost of Living: The cost of living in Britain can be high, especially in cities like London. Traveling to cheaper countries can help you save money. Weather: The often gloomy and rainy weather in Britain can be a reason to seek sunnier climates. Cultural Exploration: Experiencing different cultures, languages, and traditions can be enriching and broaden your perspective. Adventure and Nature: Many countries offer stunning natural landscapes and outdoor activities that may not be as accessible in Britain. Work Opportunities: Some countries may offer better job prospects or opportunities in specific industries. Quality of Life: Exploring countries with a slower pace of life or a different lifestyle can be appealing. Meeting New People: Traveling allows you to meet diverse individuals and make new friends from around the world.

Back in her and my mum's generation they didn't have a lot but it was a more satisfied and happy society than today and mum said she would hate to be young now. Behind the protestations and propaganda flushed out of the mass media, the complicity of weak and incompetent Politicians that allow the proliferation of Government quangos that are un elected and self serving are just fundamentally weak adversaries. The Elephant in the room behind much of the relatively recent changes to British culture and Laws is coming from a vociferous, aggressive and threatening small minority. No one addressing, despite the UK population increasing, 15% of British people have left the UK over the last 25-30 years. When I say British, I mean white British. These people are leaving with their money, skills, trade and/or education and it seems like for every Brit that leaves, they are replaced by two migrants. I'm black and I do intend on leaving the UK myself (Caribbean or Africa), but we should all be concerned with the trajectory of British people are set on being a minority in the UK in 25 years. I am no Reform voter, but rather Farage complains about immigrants, he should be addressing how to encourage Brits to stay and rebuild the UK, because when Brits stop leaving they shall be no room in the INN. Likewise, I would be concerned if someone said Nigerians, Benins, Ghanians, South Africans..etc were set to be a minority in their own country too, it means something fundamentally wrong is going on.

Thats because Farage is paid by israeli lobbyist parties from abroad, like tommy robinson. Where they push the agenda that our country is going down hill because of immigration, and try to blame muslims more than anything (even though in recent years its been Christian and Catholic Polish, Romanian and kurds that have increased the migration). But they use this as a smokescreen for what is really happening. The government has invested billions into israel. Medical supplies, cyber companies, manufacturing, having our universities investing in sponsorships with israeli businesses, having poloce forces trained by idf that they secretly bring over via private air bases.. its ridiculous. We don't invest in our own countries. We could boost our economy, create jobs, stop homelessness.. but no. We invest in a rich state that has free healthcare, education and no homelessness within their jwish community. It makes you sick. And starmer isn't the first to do it. It was pushed under the Tory gov, and especially by sunak who's family has companies in israel and employs former idf commanders as their CEOs. People need to wake up and see the real problem.

The system isn’t broken, it’s working as intended. We have had tories rip this country apart for 14 years, selling and privatising our systems from our health care to our water to their mates whilst we been blaming the other guy who also suffered under the systems the tories ran down. They told us brexit was a good idea and leaving the EU would benefit us (it didn’t) They kicked out the likes of corbyn and used cronies like starmer to carry on dividing our nation and the people who voted for the Labour Party whilst further dividing the people who wanted change under labour. This is all by design just how they used Bidens presidency to strategically spend billions on wars and weaken the Democratic Party within. Wake up, these parities have become 2 heads of the same coin. They create the conditions and then feed the public with the solutions to the problems they created. They don’t serve the people, they serve the powers around them. We are just an after thought and a tool for them to get what they want. We need to wake up

Kids had to go to the woods to search for caterpillars to eat for dinner. Long story short, you may wanna take a look around and realize that you have it better than many around the world.

Thanks to Brexit many of us cannot move to the EU full time as after 90 days one has to leave the EU and go somewhere else. A good plan in my view is to buy a small parcel of land with a borehole and some fruit trees for around 10,000 euros somewhere in Central Portugal and for 90 days live on your own land in a tent or yurt. After 90 days head to somewhere like Malaysia or Thailand for 90 days. Rent and local food is cheap there. After 90 days in Asia return to your land in Portugal for another 90 days. All legal and above board. Rinse and then repeat.

My car tax is around £70/year. I'm employed and work in engineering, my employer also pays all my travel expenses. The weather here is better, but as i live in a mountain village. The winters are much colder, but i love the seasons. Currently it's snowing, so it's going to be a white Christmas. There are things I miss about the UK, but not enough to worry about. The UK's finances are not good and have been poorly managed by Government over the last 20 years. Utilities are expensive and electricity prices in UK are some of the most expensive in the world. Food up, taxes up, insurance up, utilities up, investment down, public services worse, roads worse, food banks needed to feed people, pay stagnation, inflation up, political cronyism and sleaze, weak sentencing of criminals and early release @40% of term..the list goes on... Love this video! Living now in Paris since December 2020 - just before the Brexit drawbridge went up! It now would be near impossible for me to move to France or anywhere in Europe - work visas and the red tape involved are incredible! While in London, like you, the NHS screwed over my dental treatment, whereas the French system worked perfectly. Whereas the system in London just wanted to get rid of me and provided the cheapest and quickest treatment, in France, everyone was always looking for the best options - giving me options I was not even informed about in London! They all tried their best for me here whereas in London I felt repeatedly betrayed by the NHS (dentist and the dental hospital)! I lost an important tooth due to NHS incompetence that cost £4,000 to fix in France! Quality of life is much better here in France - but learn the language first, even to the basic level. I was using translation Apps for official meetings - it worked, but was a challenge. I am so glad I got the hell out of London and got a WARP residency while it was still possible. A new EU passport and full freedom of movement again is coming in one year.

I agree. I'm from the US and the UK is one of the easiest work visas for me to get, but the pay is abysmal compared to the USA. US has too many terminal issues: social problems, uncontrolled illegal immigration from Central America (and all around the world), no universal healthcare or education, no guaranteed PTO or family leave, broken social security system about to go bust, an immense housing crisis, and in some states like NY, CA, IL, NJ etc the taxes are insane on everything. What's worse is that there are no actual plans to fix any of this, so we are on a dangerously swift decline. Americans are TIRED and work hard, long hours with nothing to show. We are beat down and everyone I talk to wants to escape but just doesn't know how or to where. Although the UK has some of these issues, I think it may be undoubtably worse here.

I left the UK in 2005 to move to Thailand, returned in 2022 for 10 months, and quickly realised it wasn’t for me. I came back to Thailand and haven’t looked back since. While I’m proud to be British, I feel the values in the UK have declined, and from the outside, it often feels like a third-world country. In contrast, Thailand offers so much. The Christmas decorations here are spectacular-sometimes over the top-but they bring joy to both locals and foreigners with their vibrant lights. Living costs are significantly lower: rents and property are affordable, there’s no council tax, and even annual condo maintenance fees are only around £400. Utilities like electricity and water are inexpensive, though drinking bottled water can add up compared to the UK. Shopping is reasonable for local goods, though imported products can be pricier, and while vehicles can be expensive, brands like Toyota are a solid choice. Some KZbinrs describe Thailand as modern, which is true in places like Bangkok, but it’s not universal. Would I go back to the UK? Maybe for a holiday, but living there again? Not anytime soon."

The trouble is you need to pay for private healthcare these days unless you want to be waiting for a potentially life saving operation. Employers often provide this as a perk though if you've got a decent job. And NHS dental treatment - forget it - it is getting much harder to get NHS treatment and even that is not free. A lot of surgeries that have NHS patients are simply no longer treating them - you have to pay a private subscription to get treatment. Still, even with private dental and health care UK is MUCH cheaper than USA, but then USA is an outlier when it comes to healthcare costs. I have experience of private healthcare and dental care in both Thailand and the Philippines and it is both cheaper and much higher quality than the UK...

Eastern Europe is now a much better place to live than the UK, though it used to be the opposite. Times have changed.

Brexit has made it harder unfortunately unless you're highly skilled, you'll need a visa to work/live in the EU.

@@girldoes289 absolutely! I love Scotland don’t get me wrong but it’s just depressing and I don’t see it getting any better. Born and brought up here so it’s going to be hard to leave but hopefully for the better

I live in Devon and it’s turned into a concrete jungle, houses going up everywhere. It’s probably triple its size now. No green grass anywhere anymore. Used to be soo pretty here 😢 I’m also thinking of leaving

@@meisterlymanu5214things are getting worse I guess throughout the whole world 🌎, population is increasing, and there’s more mouths to feed, with less people want to join the employment market, young humans want to have kids at the age of 17 or 18, when they don’t even earn their bread and butter, and who’ll feed their new born Babies???? The Government??? Who’s to blame???? Is it the government problem if young humans decide to have kids at 17 , rather than finding a job to buy a livelihood for themselves, and then growing a family, if that’s makes sense… As simple as this, no rocket science. If this is followed there’ll be less to little crime, and more prosperity and people will be more happier. With a job at hand, young people will be able to buy a small house and then think of having a family rather than having a child at 17, and then the stress of affording to feed mouths and hence the crime…

Every city has thieves. I really don't see it as that surprising.

It's the first place that it happens, because the price of housing in Oxford is through the roof, you are either rich or very poor there
