As an atmospheric river lashed Southern California with heavy rain, some locals decided to surf the flooded streets. Feb. 4, 2024. (TNLA)

Knew Sam Gillard (sp?) who created what I think he called an "inland surfer" in Ventura many years ago,,,could that be what's being used? Sadly Sam died when his boat went down just off the coast, many years ago. Really nice man. Knew how to create fun! Sad to see Ventura going through so much adverse weather, but at my old age nowdays, do enjoy the glimpses of the town I lived in and near for so many years. Good people there.

channel dr. haha i used to live on that street. local city council still hasn't addressed the flooding issue and those homes are half of what they could be sold for because of flooding insurance.

Have fond memories of being a second grader on Ramona street..stomping through puddles in my new rain boots..never could find deep enough ones to satisfy...today, age 78 I see the dream I had, has come to pass! Now I'm too old and far away to take advantage... Drat! Sad for what Ventura residents have been going through lately, but those kids sure know how to make the best of it...surfing down the street behind a pickup truck! Fun to watch. Miss Ventura.

I grew up in this neighborhood. Channel drive floods every time you get any significant rain. "Channel boarding" has been a thing for decades!

Channel Drive. Floods on a regular basis and we would surf it after big storms. Gives new meaning to getting pulled into the lineup.

The street is called channel drive...that was the tip off...would flood the road frequently.

Channel drive is notorious for flooding since the gutter is in the center of the street and the low point is in the center of the road. Also, all of the perpendicular side streets all flow downhill into it.

Hey, one weather guy recently slipped up when that "bomb cyclone" hit..saying it was "guided by that radar installation up above Ojai". Powers that be have shut down his internet..whatever source he tries to use..they just keep shutting him down. Odd, huh? HAARP and who knows what else...but some skulduggery for sure.
