Locals Surf San Blas

Two week dental trips have their perks. I stayed at Stoners Surf Camp with former Mexican surf champion Jose Manuel Cano "Pompis". A simple rustic cabana on the beach with surf steps away. The locals are extremely passionate with their surfing and welcomed me with open arms. Enjoy!

I first went to San Blas in 1966. Stayed at the El Colon Hotel at Mantanchen Bay. A group from the League of Spiritual Discovery , Timothy Leary's group, ( he was not with them) came and had LSD "experiences" in the jungle and beach areas the month I was there. There was no one around the bay at that time. Just the little hotel. Some guest got paranoid that the Federales were coming and flushed a kilo of weed down the toilet. The owner Pepe , an Argentinian, was pissed and grumbled about how dangerous pot was as he was cleaning up the mess. That was just a taste of a month in San Blas in 1966. I went back just before I was drafted in 69 and then with my wife in 71. Loved it and miss being there. p.s. The LSD guys had some DMT and I was fortunate enough to have smoked some of it. It is a intense psychedelic rush for maybe 10-15 minutes . You had to be sitting when you smoked it. Those were wild times. Glad I survived it all with half a brain. I'm stoned now. That's why I can't stop writing................. Pepe had a Massey Ferguson tractor sitting in the lobby of the hotel that he would pull cars out of the sand or mud. $3.00 for a VW and $5.00 for a Cadillac.

I also stayed there in 1968. We had to have our VW bus towed from the beach with the tractor. Returned in 1971 and 1975. I could write a book on our adventures during those innocent times. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the town now.

No kidding. I’ve waisted weeks chasing ghosts from San Blas to PV. Got Punta Mita good for 3 hours one day in 4 trips to the region. The place is a hoax.
